So, it could be anything then? The esk says 6 million plus add ons
I assume the Emirates is tawdry, and the Etihad, and the Amex, and the Vitality stadium, and so on and so on. What a load of old cobblers.
This kind of stuff should have been in the everton press release!A bit of perspective from a fellow blue who was president of the Liverpool Law Society to help bring the rage down. Quoted from https://www.facebook.com/share/1HFGpACn1P/
"What a surprise to see that Everton’s new home will be the Hill Dickinson Stadium. This might be be an unfamiliar name to some. But it is a name that is written into the history of the legal profession in Liverpool.
We can start that history with William Charles Cuff (‘Will’) who became a solicitor in 1870 in Liverpool. He established the firm of Cuff Roberts just as WW2 was breaking out. They became a well known Liverpool firm.
Cutting a long story short, Cuff Roberts eventually merged with Halliwell’s and adopted their name. Halliwell’s in turn, as you will have guessed became part of Hill Dickinson in about 2011. Hill Dickinson is now renowned as an international law firm but its roots are will and truly in the city.
What has this got to do with Everton?
Will Cuff was also one of the most important names in the history of the club. His love for the club went back as far as watching St Domingo in Stanley Park!
He was eventually Chairman from 1922 – 1938. A period that covered most of the career of Dixie Dean. Interestingly, another Cuff Roberts Partner, Keith Tamlin was a later Director of the club. I am proud that Keith’s name is on the same list as mine, as a Past President of Liverpool Law Society. When I was president in 2012, Keith took me a game as his guest in the Directors Box!
Hill Dickinson have continued to have close links to the club. They not only bring an injection of funds. They are also part of our DNA. We Evertonians know our history and this firm is a proud part of it."
It could be the best of both worlds, it's never going to catch as a name as it's too clumsy but if the money's good it could be a short-term fix.
I'd usually agree but it's such a clumsy name it's never going to stick anywhere.Problem is the first naming rights partner is usually the one with the greatest value attached. Perhaps they can use someone else's cash for now and call it the Toyota stadium afterwards for the same or more, but generally that's not how it works.
Maybe they have rich backers…maybe those Rich backers are somehow connected to Everton!
Maybe they are super ambitious and being linked to a Prem team they think generate interest From richer/More high profile clients from say the far east where the Prem is huge!
No one really knows but most reliable reports indicate they are spending around 10 million a year for naming rights. We will know in 12 months either way when our annual reports are released.
Hopefully you're spot on bud. Up the toffees either way!I doubt it's quite as simple as that.
I would expect there are some tax advantages to this
I don’t want to cast any unwarranted shade - and especially not where m’learned friends are concerned, even if they are all hardcore bluesI’m not so sure.
They’re clearly growing and expanding in the Far East, and other shipping centres.
The biggest law firms are £billion affairs, maybe they have aspirations of joining them and desire the exposure.
I do agree it does seem a lot of their revenue / profit, but if they continue growing as they have for the last 5-7 years, it becomes a much smaller % figure year on year.
Maybe posted here already, to be honest not that concerned it will be " bramley moore" to me, until i die, however, this popped up on my FB..
