Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

It’s his own fault. All he had to do was give Dyche a slap back and he’d be immune from criticism.
Ha ha, now there is a statement that has no basis in reality. The Dychettes would have been foaming at the mouth. It would of been like the MAGAistas when Trump got shot at!

Coleman broke his leg 8 years ago. We've been looking for a RB since. I think that has a lot to do with it.
It's crazy how low priority sorting out our RB situation has been. Patterson has really been the only serious attempt at buying a first choice right back in that time. It's funny that him and Mykolenko were bought at basically the same time as they are essentially the polar opposites of each other as full backs in terms of playing style.

I've said before, people get wat too worked up about him both ways. Some people seem to love to put the boot in but by the same token he gets an awful lot more people defending him than most people who've flopped as badly as he has would. It's genuinely quite strange that he seems to provoke such strong feelings either way.
Even by GoT standards it's odd.

….with a view to the window, very interesting insight from that press conference.

Seems like we’ll know before the last game the details of who’s leaving and who’s staying. ‘No major upheaval’ suggests he’s wanting to keep the basis of this team so I’d expect that to include deals for the regular first teamers who are out of contract. Whether they want to stay is clearly up to them.

if he’s able to renew a few, I can see maybe 3 or 4 new arrivals this summer with the aspiration of improving the starting X1. We’ll have a better idea what positions they might fill in the next 10 days.
We're going to need a lot more than 3 or 4. We need at least that now, if absolutely nobody leaves. If it's only 3 or 4 we'll be bottom half again all next season. We can't have another season with one LB, no RBs, no RWs, no competent forwards and one first string goalkeeper. I don't think there is one position in the squad where we have two decent players per position. Maybe LW? We have 3 decent CBs for 2 positions, so almost there, I suppose.

I always thought the former chairman was blocking us from replacing him. We seemed to think we could get by on signing backups and short term stop gaps and Coleman would just go on forever. We also flogged Baines to death until we were eventually left with no choice but to buy a replacement. Hope we left such sentimental nonsense firmly in the past.

I hate every part of that quote. Not many players incoming, move up the table if we can. Standard Everton.
Or he's saying that with the unprecedented amount of players out of contract or on loan he doesn't want to have to buy 7 players to replace the out of contract ones and 4 new players to add to the team.

There are players who we could offer new contracts to that still add something to the team, if not as first team starters, as experienced bench players/role models to new/younger players - Gueye, Doucoure, Young, Coleman.

You cannot solve all the problems in one transfer window - this is what promoted sides get wrong. They sign 11 players, spending £100m+, then there's no team dynamic and they fail to adapt to the premier League.

Improve in certain key positions, strengthen in depth in others but you can't hard reset every position all at once
