Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think it was the Chelsea press conference where Moyes said he was beginning to firm up his ideas of who we would go for, words to that effect anyway.

We have lost Thelwell and Purdy, supposedly appointing Hammond but IIRC there were going to be other roles that still need filling as part of the transfer committee that would report to Kinnear.

It's both confusing and concerning at this stage but at least Kinnear is here now. The other people need to be appointed asap, I think the aim was to have them in by Kinnears original start date of June 1. That is very late in the day unless they have been working on the QT already which I expect they have.

To a large extent I think the dye is cast now for this summer and we just have to hope that Moyes and Kinnear between them and with the help of any others, can get it right.
I think that was more about who we are going to offer new contracts to.

I don't especially mind players like Coufal on a free transfer if it was a two year deal and if money will be spent elsewhere, particularly on adding pace and goals.

We won't be able to fix every problem in the summer and have to prioritise where the money is spent. I'd prefer though to be buying potential at a low fee and see where that gets us.

Coufal is the type of guy you get on deadline day if Plan A, B, and C have fallen through, and you have no money leftover. That doesnt mean it's always a bad thing but we do have to focus on buying players that we can either get 5-10 years value from and/or will make us profit if we have to sell.
True, but you know he'll be our first signing on the 1st July!

We need a top class centre mid, or who we can afford with our budget we have enough cover with the midfield players we have now. Look at Newcastle, that's how they got there by buying quality.
Makes little sense. Kinda dispute your initial point, at least that's how it reads.

Agh, ok. I reckon we will have someone in before that. A little surprise from TFG
I honestly have no idea where we stand in 24/25 from a PSR perspective but it seems logical to me to push any major expenditure into 25/26 when our income will take a big jump upwards. I might be adding two and two and getting five, though, so feel free to ignore my musings!

No, that makes sense tbf. I always do this to myself and then go on a proper downer when the inevitable happens. I literally do it all the time, and I have no idea why

We should be massively to the good on PSR. Goodison should be laundered before the deadline to wipe out and legacy problems and set us up with a healthy warchest.
