2024/25 David Moyes

TBF the recent wobble coincided with an absolute stinking run of fixtures where we seemed to be playing the top six every week for an eternity! That skews the record slightly but we were still competitive in those fixtures and picked up a few draws in the process.

Nobody can deny that he’s done a great job since he came in. Think people have short memories and have forgotten just how bad we were at the time he was appointed.

Yup. But bad is an understatement. We were abominable. Moyes is a clear step up and will stabilise things for a couple of years. Then we’ll take another step up.

All I’m expecting for the next season or two is mid-table mediocrity. Campaigns during which relegation isn’t a concern. More would be great, of course, but the real goal should be slowly but surely overhauling the squad. Then strike for those upper echelons.

April had been designed the month of death, where if we still had Dyche I believe we would have been teetering near to the relegation abyss.

Instead, we were all but mathematically safe and still picked up four points from 15, so with a direct comparison with Dyche it's a big improvement.

Moyes isn't perfect and there are a few results, here and there, which should have been better regardless, but our position and play is chalk and cheese with pre-Jan.

For me, the point that people's expectations have risen to the point that they're questioning him shows the work he's done, because we'd have all taken this.

Once he's had a summer and brought in a few acquisitions, I suspect we'll be comfortable mid-table next year and pushing towards 8th...

... and I'd be happy that, considering where we were.

hang on. We’ve been on the brink of relegation for years with a shocking team and people are complaining that Moyes isn’t going to win us a trophy. I remember very recently West Ham fans (after winning a trophy) wanting Moyes out because they wanted more progressive football. Look at them now. Football fans are probably the weirdest throughout all sports
