2024/25 Seamus Coleman

If Seamus is the man of honour that I believe him to be he'd call time on his playing career and not put Everton in an invidious position of being the "bad guy " and not offering him a new deal.
He was extremely close to leaving end of last season, he probably only signed a 12 month cos of the absolute state the club was still in, on and off the pitch. I feel it’s a given that’s it come to an end, his body simply ain’t no longer equipped for top level football and he’ll know that himself. He’ll be chewing Baines ear, who made a decision at a similar time

He’s a humble, club-first man. Even if he’s out for the lap of honour, I’m sure he’ll have his family there to mark and enjoy the occasion for the Goodison-era as much as anyone. He knows what it means.
Oh totally agree. And he should be part of it, he has been a real servant to the club.

I could just envision him deciding to retire and the club trying to make a deal of it in that game. Which I just think would be wrong, both for him and goodison.

Good for him. I'll never knock a player who wants to keep playing. But he shouldn't be playing for Everton anymore. His time is up.

I think its going to be interesting to see what the club do mate. I was very dubious about him getting g anew deal last summer, but gave the club the benefit of the doubt.

Taking it being Seamus Coleman out of it. Based on games played, age, fitness would another player get a new contract................................

But it is Seamus Coleman, its going to be a test of sentimentality vs objectivity in decision making.

If we're comfortably ahead (and given our record this season, it probably needs to be at least 3 goals up), I wouldn't bemoan him a 5-minute cameo on Sunday.

He can hold his head up high, but I'm sure even he knows Everton need better than he can give now.
