Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Sorry, but I still can’t see Delap coming to us.
I could, if we had a more optimistic manager. I'd back Thomas Frank to sell Brentford with their flatpack stadium full of happy clappers next to a motorway over Moyes selling Everton. Can you imagine - "Sign for us lad and I'll lead us to the glory of 14th place, and if you work hard we might get a draw away to a properly big club".

Moyes may have somewhat of a dour presentation but he’s always been ambitious, and he will have the ambition to bring us back European football imo.

Moyes was literally quoted before our game against Brentford stating “Everton have far greater ambitions than Brentford”. That’s the actual quote.

I remember last year when everyone was desperate to spunk £50M-60M in Evan Ferguson.

Whatever happened to him?

Delap has had his good 6 months when Premiership defences knew nothing about him, looks out of his depth now.
Would rather go for Ivanovic from Millwall for £15M-20M, then sell him for over double that next summer after he’s had his good season.

Have you watched Delap regularly? He's a good all round striker and certainly a good buy at £30 million. He's not the type to be a 1 season wonder. Not seen Ivanovic so can't comment on him.

I think this is a fair point on the general market of ST. In my opinion the position is at a general low in quality let alone prospects. Thats leading to clubs taking bets and or I think a media grasping for "up and coming" forwards that maybe don't deserve the distinction. United with Hojlund, Vlahovic at Juve etc. There has been high outlays with results I'd argue that haven't justified the initial investment. Id also argue despite maybe not as expensive transfers the likes of Adeyemi or Sesko continue to be questionable to the ceiling once prescribed to them. If one or either went for 60 million plus I would be dubious or think it very possible the club could regret it.

Delap I'd argue is small sample theatre that warrants similar doubts. However good its a season of data. For the likes of United or even worse Chelsea I think they are foolish to think the output will drastically surpass what they currently have (rn Jackson is still better than Delap as example). The major difference though is that his transfer fee is capped at 30 million. That is below market rate even for what he's shown currently and for me makes the comparison to say Ferguson vastly different.

Were talking a fee comparable to what Nketiah went to Palace for, Patson Daka to Leicester, Danny Ings to Villa, Scamacca to Wes Ham. I would argue in present output, upside, and sell on potential Delap has a better rationale than all those names did. If this was a 40 million plus conversation that changes the calculus but he is very good value for his pedigree of prospect.
