2024/25 David Moyes

I say that because I wouldn't have appointed him in the first place. But he was - and he did a good job. In other words, he has done nothing to deserve the sack or for me to "call for his head." It's just that I believe the job he was re-appointed for is different to the job that lies ahead. In that sense, I don't believe he is the right man for the job.

I'm old school. I'd not want to chase Moyes out because I think he's done well for us in the circumstances he had to contend with this season. In an ideal world, both he and the club would recognise that that job is done and we'd part ways amicably.
I think we are well past the point of being nice and pulling punches on this. We’ve had 30 years of abject failure, 12 under Moyes. Fans who are accepting of Moyes are part of the problem as is any ownership who puts him in charge for 2 and half years. We should be demanding better. We need a clear strategy that accepts nothing less than aiming to get into a situation where we can win the league. Moyes ain’t part of that strategy.

O
I don't accept that the only way forward is, say, 16th - 10th - 6th - 3rd.

In this league with the right backing, smart leadership, and canny recruitment, it's not that difficult to go 16th - 6th.

Forest have shown that. We are a bigger - and now richer - club than Forest with a much higher ceiling. Our horizons are wider. We should not be afraid to embrace the new Everton and the new opportunities that lie waiting to be seized by ambitious, competent ownership.

Eddie Howe took Newcastle from the depths to the top four in 18 months. Why do we think we can't achieve such a turnaround?
100% this.

My opinion as someone who sees things from the outside.

I don't get the negativity surrounding Moyes. It's impossible to judge him in a situation like this. Give him the chance to rebuild the team in the summer, then wait and see.

We like sacking managers mate, it's our only form of entertainment as the football is absolutely crap.

A lot of blues are very thankful to Moyes for making them enjoy going to the game again. I'm very thankful that I don't turn off ten minutes in every game .

We were such a mess for nearly the whole duration of his absence. I for one wouldn't be so quick to dismiss that. A lot seem to have forgotten just how bad it was under dyche this season and let's not forget he jacked it in saying he couldn't get any more out of the players.

So Moyes is more than welcome to carry on for me and I do find it bizarre some want rid like they've forgotten the last few years of utter horse manure getting served up.

No what he did do was move them forward every season. 8th, 4th, CL final, 2nd. He bought time because he was moving forward. I can tell you right now for certain if he’d have dropped out of the CL places at any point in those first few seasons and started going backwards then those fans would have hounded him out regardless of the football.

Slot is playing perhaps the most boring football I’ve ever seen from a league title winner. Guardiola’s treble team was nowhere near as ‘exciting’ as his 17/18 team. Does anyone care? No, because they’re winning.

It’s fine to say you want excitement whilst winning games but there is zero excitement in losing and drawing games regardless of how you play. Everyone saying ‘I just wish we’d go for it’ really just means ‘I just wish we’d win’. Because when we go for it with a high line away at Spurs or Chelsea and get ripped apart 4 or 5-0 I can tell you right now not a single person on here would find that entertaining.

People want exciting winning football which is just about the hardest thing in football to produce and is the goal of just about every top team with even only a few of them able to pull it
Of course he moved them forward but he did it by playing fast exciting football. He lost a few finals but he kept the fans onside by the football he played. I agree with you about Slot but if he starts to struggle the fans will be less forgiving because of his style of football.

This post sums up the acceptance of mediocrity. The standard cannot be well it’s better than Dyche, one of the worst managers in the clubs history. FFS aim higher.

It's called being realistic, what are you expecting and what great manager do you think will come.

Nothing to do with accepting mediocrity, it's about realising what state the clubs been in recently. We've had manager after manager and continued to go backwards. If he gets us around the same places he used to it'll give the next manager a good base to take us forward like Martinez benefitted from Moyes organisation before his own methods failed dramatically.

You seem to think TFG coming is some sort of magic wand that'll instantly make us great again, I suggest a reality check for you.

Let me ask you a simple question. If you had a manager at Roma for 12 years who won nothing and finished in the top 4 once would you be happy if the club’s new owners put him back in charge for two and half years?
