2024/25 David Moyes

I didn't want Moysey back. Not for any petulant ‘jilted john’ reasons, simply because i want better. I fully appreciate he has a kack squad to pick from, but at his core, there is and always will be a littleness to his ambition. I was hoping these yanks were dreaming big, but if they see Moyes as the answer I fear this is another false dawn. I hear lots saying how well he has done (and he has, credit where its due) but no more than you would genuinely expect from a new manager bounce. A bounce that seems to be fizzling out now.

I was exactly the same. Didn’t want him back at all. He will do well but wanted someone new

The even worse decision appears to be giving him control over signings. Getting rid of Thelwell was a massive mistake.

I said it before that his dry spells take you out of competing for anything. He is too pragmatic. You have to be a team that can score goals and he will stick somebody in behind the striker that will do more defending than attacking. You cannot have these massive win droughts and expect to compete. He grinds out games. The footy is okay. He isn't terrible. I think those goals from Beto early on made him look better than he was. No harm done. He did the job. I'm not sure if we should fire him unless we can do so for free (not sure if he is still on the payroll next year), but we should not trust him with recruitment and we should be looking towards the future. If an offer is too good to pass up aka an Emery caliber manager is available, you take them.

There isn’t any demand for a change in manager. Maybe the Friedkins will think differently but I’d be massively surprised with Moyes already talking about next season.

Going by your words, you said De Rossi got sacked for a poor start to the season.

This is a very poor finish to the season with Moyes.

Please explain why the Friedkins are going to act differently here??

A lot of people mentioning about the last 10 games, but there are some factors to consider. 5 of those games were against the top 5 sides. The other 5 all draws. I can understand the concern with the recent form, but teams in our position towards the end of the season do tend to drop off on their form when they have nothing to play for essentially.

I thought yesterday was very poor to throw that away and it was a very good indication of how average some of the players we have are. Moyes won't be going anywhere and turning on him would only be detrimental to the progress of the club.

It’s not a really poor end to the season, not really it’s not like we are losing game after game so really poor it is not.

Underwhelming is what I would say it was, but there’s reasons for it. This squad didn’t become a top side over night, and in fact we overachieved when Moyes first arrived here so actually I think our limitations are evident but they where here pre-Moyes.

All indications are that they are going to back Moyes and they are planning for the future under him certainly in the short term to medium term.

We have a big summer ahead which will give us indications of where we are heading.

Despite being the biggest "anti-Moyes" fan i can recall; partly due to the opportunity we had, partly due to how he left, partly due to his legacy and 0 trophies at Everton...

I still won't slag him off, not until he's had a summer to actually try and bring his players in and stamp his brand on it.

Yesterday was the quintessential Moyes performance at Everton, which would rear its ugly head. Got 2 goals up, then invited pressure, and subsequently threw it away. For the first time, it felt like I was in the old Moyes era.

But let's not dress a pig up here. This is a poor side, needs desperate rehauling. But to squander 3 points against a side already relegated in our penultimate game at Goodison, it's not good enough and I hope he can get all the players he wants in the summer.

Let's face it Moyes isn't going to do anything more than stabilise us over the next year or so which after the last few seasons I'm ok with. However for longer term success we will need to get more ambitious than just surviving which is all Moyes will give us. I expect he will get another 12 months or so in the role and then get moved upstairs.

We are already pretty stable in our rot…no need to stabilise any further..

De Rossi got a 3 year contract last summer.

He started the season with 3 draws and a defeat. He got sacked.

His replacement got 12 games and then got sacked.

Moyes was brought in last minute as a stop gap.

Why are the Friedkins going to change tact and support a manager they really didn't want.

Nobody can answer that, we haven’t seen enough to know yet.

They could very well sack him, you or I can only speculate.

Hence why I said this summer is a big one for how our future looks.

It sounds like we've got the board we deserve!

Like Moshiri never left, but got on 'roids. Bigger, dumber and less patient than before!

The plain and basic fact is that our squad is very poor. Look at the subs available yesterday. I often wonder how many of our squad would get a game with other premier teams let alone the top 6 . I think the answer is Pickford, Branthwaite, maybe O'Brien and Tarky and then I stop counting. Moyes has one heck of a job to get us into top 10 never mind top 6.
