Running

Today was the last day for the 60 miles for prostate cancer. Just after I put up that post, I was absolutely flying and was on track to finish it with 8 days to spare. Then one day disaster struck, me and my son play this game of kicking a sponge football at the back of each others heads when the other isn't expecting it. He was walking down the hall with his back to me. I got the ball out of my feet and pinged it at the back of his head. Next thing a hot shooting pain down the back of my leg. Hamstring crapped the bed, only good thing was me shouting from the pain made my son turn around and the ball hit him in the face, 2 points to me ha. Stopped running for 5 days but was still sore. Still did the last 15 miles was slow as hell and sore as hell but I finished it tonight. Then I was sitting watching the TV and it downed on me 62 miles is 100k so I ran up and down the street for the extra 2 mile odds at half 10 and did 100k because that's sounded more impressive the 60 miles. It was tough in parts and fun in others but I'm glad it's over. I'll keep the running up but just do a couple of mile a week to keep a semblance of fitness.

Finished the Staveley half marathon this afternoon... only fell down twice.
As a southerner, im not conditioned for this sort of thing... but i keep coming back to the lakes.
The Eagle and child pub took the edge off the bruising.

I even checked how long it takes to get to lime street from the lakes... hoping I can convince the family to move up north within a few years

It’s a deceptively tough course, a mix of trail and fell.

That first mile or so uphill is killer too 😮

Lakeland trails events are the best, they cater for everyone from the elite, to those that walk around the course 👍

Wanted to take in the scenery, but too much looking down anticipating the next rock.

Still it's done. Have Keswick booked in September, but that depends if the blues are playing at home or not

I haven’t run much in the past month due to a chest infection but am working my way back again . On 28 th June I ‘m in a four person relay team doing the Moray Way 100 miles . We run 3 legs each . I was out this morning recceing one of my legs , a 5 miler along the Speyside Way which was fine enough as I know it well , 5 miles down the trail, turn follw my route on the day 5 miles back. I start the Relay with an easy 5 mile leg and handover , another 5 miles at leg 5 then my big problem , a 14.7 miles leg up the hardest part of the Speyside Way which will be at night by then. I reccied 11 miles of it with friends last week but I was still suffering chest symptoms so it was a slow plod on my own taking 3 hours in hot conditions , with many walking bits up the steep hills. Hopefully it’ll all be ok on the day, we have 24 hours to complete all 12 legs 🤞
