2024/25 Nathan Patterson

The only thing that's overboard is the defence of a player who was never good enough. It's you and others like you who make this thread the pantomime that it is. You were wrong about Patterson and the people who never rated him were right yet you still throw around the "rhetoric" and "agenda" to try to discredit people who are quite simply a better judge of a footballer than you ever were. Hopefully one day you will have the humility to admit that to yourself.
Sounds like I struck a chord there. Hope you are ok.

…but he won’t take a drop in salary and it’s unlikely Rangers will pay him what we are.
...he said without evidence.

I'll admit that he didn't develop as I had hoped, but at 20 or so years old when he joined everton, nobody knew how good he could be, yet the attacks were almost immediate, and by people that were admittedly anti rangers. So, it was perfectly reasonable to defend a young lady against what seemed to be irrational attacks, and that is what they were.

Positional sense can be learned, and every appearance he made, I was looking for evidence of failures there, and there were some, but he was hardly the only one on an everton team largely under the cost during his time here.

….this is the Patterson thread, not sure which young lady we have to protect from irrational attack  I only said Patterson is unlikely to take a pay cut to return to Scotland.

You definitively said he won’t, not that it’s unlikely he won’t. The poster was correct, you have nothing whatsoever to base that on.

It’s just something else to make yourself (and others) angry at him about yet it’s based on absolutely nothing.

I think it’s likely he would take a pay cut to go back to them if it meant regular football and a chance to try to earn his place back in the Scotland squad. But neither of us know what his intrinsic drive is, so it’s total supposition.

Sell, not good enough. Huge shame though... The changes in management every 25 days has had a big effect on his growth and confidence, He doesn't seem to have that 'Edge' on the grarss as others are showing. Rangers probably the best club for him.

He has not been given the chance to develop especially under the previous manager. Short memories on here .
He has been ignored by pretty much every manager who has had him.

I can only assume that maybe he isn't that good.

Personally I would just pop him in the team for the remaining games of the season and see if we have anything salvageable there but it's not looking great.

Lampard was picking him when fit. Dyche didn’t.

As you say, Moyes now has a decision about sticking him in for the last few games or not.

Again, this just isn't true. He played in 25 of our first 29 games last season under Dyche which is by far the most involvement he's had under any manager in his entire career. Lampard picked him for about 5 games while Coleman was injured and he was our only other right back. I don't know why you insist on always trying to refute a point that we can all see is just a fact - no manager has ever fully committed to playing him, whether at Rangers, here, or for Scotland. To not even consider the possibility of the managers being right and you being wrong is very strange.

Ok mate,

The season Lampard was in charge at the start of the season:

Started 11 of the 13. The 2 subs were when returning from injury. As I said, picked when fit (Coleman was fit and on the bench from game 2 that season).

Under Dyche last season he started 9 games of the 32 league games he was available with with 7 of the other 11 appearances being under 20 mins (a few being 1 minute which if you feel you can adequately judge him from 1 minute appearances, fair play to you).
