VAR

Not a fan of this, our treatment with yellow cards is bad enough. If you play fullback or holding mid for Everton in a big game you’re getting a yellow in the first few mins so you can’t make another tackle all game.

Imagine us with the blue cards, we’d so much as look at any of Oliver Atwell Tierney Pawson and they’d have half the team in the sin bin.

I’d put a big wager on after the end of the first season of this being in use we’d have received the most blue cards and Liverpool would have received the least.

The people in charge just love to spoil the game, which although it had its faults, was still as about as perfect as it could be.

The blue cards are fine if it's just for dissent, that's fairly black and white and we can get around that with good coaching/discipline. If they use it for anything else then it's just another tool to manage a result. For instance when VVD tries his usual leg breaker in the derby, he may get a blue card and everyone in the papers will bemoan the decision, when our player tries it he'll get a straight red. Let's wait until the referees have mastered two cards before introducing a third.

Exactly right

Absolutely spot on.

Just another way for them to manipulate results

You don't need blue cards. It's just another sign of emotional weakness. Boo-Hoo, 'the player did a serious foul in the first few minutes of a big match, but we won't send him off because we have to make allowances for the occasion and the fact that he was hyped up.' No we don't! He's a professional footballer and part of that is managing your emotions. If you can't do that, it makes you a lesser player. A sending off offence is a sending off offence (same with bookings) regarless of when in the game it happens, the 'importance' of the match or whether you're playing for Man U or Stockport County. Just get ref's to referee the game properly. And while you're doing that, stop the laughing and joking with the players. You're in charge FFS, act like it and stop mooning over the famous millionaires you are in charge of.

There’s already a clear punishment for dissent, it’s just not used.

What I imagine the preferred premier league spectacle to be - in football form .....
