Really really poor today.....and still pr9bably our best midfielder
Did win back a lot of balls. Not to him to creat chances. If you look at Onanie so. What brings he to the table? The guy was terrible at HSV, Hoffenheim and even Lille and now he is worth 40M... Why?

It was a sentimental short term decision to bring him back. The sort of decision only our club is stupid enough to keep making on a repeated basis

If you can't pass a football to a team mate from 5 to 10 yards then you shouldn't be playing top flight football.

The amount of counter attacks he sets up against us is crazy.

Wow, getting he's torn apart here. I think we were worse when he went off. He lost the ball quite a few times, but at least he was showing for it and trying to do something on the ball. He's losing it because he's taking a tiny amount of risk, which the rest of our players seem scared of. Doucoure for example, played every ball backwards when he came on.

He’s only ever been a ball winner. He has always been very limited technically. He wins a lot of possession, but he does very little with it. He is giving it away far too often these days though.

And a lot of people (including Lampard) seem to think because he wins the ball, he's a number 6. Whereas in his first spell, he always had someone sat in next to him.

Last night he was left stranded because of how high up Onana played - which, could be forgiven, but Palace tried the same thing against us two weeks ago and we ripped them to shreds. Really odd set-up yesterday.

He’s getting closed down quickly because it’s obvious our centre backs are going to give it to him every time. When he does get it, as well as getting closed down he has no options in front of him because there’s no movement into space from our other midfielders.

We could put Garner in there or Onana but the same thing will happen.

He’s still good at winning the ball, intercepting and breaking up play- much better than what we’ve had since he left at doing that job. He’s not a playmaker though so we need to:

a) vary our game a bit more so every opposition player isn’t just waiting on the inevitable pass to him from our defenders - keep them guessing a bit would give him more time.

b) give him better options ahead of him so there is an easy pass on.
