My big worry is the aura of “not been relegated since the 50s” going. Once we’ve gone down, even if we were to come straight back up (unlikely), we’re still a club that’s been relegated. The fans will have seen it before. The players won‘t have the fear of being “the team that took us down”...

Goes to show that Slippy has clearly built a good culture there…players going out there to win the title for the club he loves. Can’t imagine many managers getting that kind of reaction from their team in an otherwise dead game.

It was also because the East and West stands are Grade II listed, so knocking them down would have been next to impossible. I’m very dubious that the development would be so “respectful” if it wasn’t for that.
