Championship positives

I suppose going to the match might be more exciting as Wayne Rooneys Everton strive to overturn a 12 point penalty and avoid dropping into League 1.

I think the biggest positive would be for my mental health. Silly as it may sound, I’ve found the last couple of years really hard, the emotional energy fretting over the results of Burnley, Watford, Leeds or Forest. Going the game and watching us lose every week.
I’d hope we’d at least win a few home games next year if we went down with some youngsters who had some desire to do well and play for the shirt.

My big worry is the aura of “not been relegated since the 50s” going.

Once we’ve gone down, even if we were to come straight back up (unlikely), we’re still a club that’s been relegated. The fans will have seen it before. The players won‘t have the fear of being “the team that took us down”. There won’t be the desperation in the air that there was in 94, 98 and 22.

I honestly see us becoming - best-case scenario that doesn’t involve Saudi/Qatari money - a yo-yo club.
