I say this every time these things come up but we might not have known whether he was good enough, but clearly the professionals who make these decisions for a living did. In it's most simple form the point is you don't just give every player...

Tend to agree, it may be coming from the player (not necessarily a link to Everton, but maybe McGinn wants to leave). Doesn't make sense for Villa to sell him after July 1st. He's not going to fetch a huge fee, and they could probably get a...

The way transfers work these days I'd say there's almost no chance at all that we've speculatively just contacted Villa and said any chance of selling us McGinn. Either Villa have suggested he's available or his agent has been sounding out suitors.

You really have to be doing a massive ostrich impression to still think resale value is something to laugh off after the last couple of years.

It's got to be win the league. Otherwise jack it in. We shouldn't be happy with 8th 9th or 10th. A realistic target, another season wasted,is a CL place for the ££££. Then we'll see.

Just fixed a little error for you, we finished in the bottom half too but I prefer to call it mid-table 😎

As a club our target should be to get into the 7th-10th bracket. As a team it's impossible to say, because we haven't got one yet.

I wouldn't put them in anything like the same bracket to be honest, either in playing style or what role they would take on in the squad.
  • Lanolin
    Not really.

It's nothing to do with age, it's just whether he's good enough. I haven't seen enough of him over the last 12 months or so to know but ordinarily you wouldn't be too keen on a keeper who was dropped from his midtable league one team at one point...

The reality is that nobody has shown any inclination to pay anything like what we're looking for to buy him, so actually it probably wouldn't have been that easy for him to force a move. For all we as fans talk about Real Madrid and all that, the...

We shouldn't be really. Obviously nobody is going to be as good as Pickford but we should be able to bring in somebody who's not out of their depth at this level, we have before and pretty much every other club does.

Sometimes we like to kid ourselves, be real he signed for the same reason most players do, massive increase in wages with possibly a release clause. It was either that or stay on same wages for next three years.

I think you're right - nobody should swallow any rhetoric that comes out of the club, regardless who is in charge. What I would say though is that there's a fair few variables on this window that I don't think people are really accepting the...

I do think it's slightly naive, but I don't mean that as a criticism just a comment. I've heard all this 'things are different this time' stuff far too many times to just swallow it uncritically. I'll judge this set up on what it does not what it...
