My own view is that what is a commercial venture shouldn't be named after anyone (unless it's the owner / family of course), and should just have another name or brand. As it is it's implying an association with the person and club.
It's like buying a lottery ticket with strikers. Done more in blind hope than anything. You might get your money back occasionally, but hitting the jackpot is one in a million.
Not really. Think Moyes had done a good job. Don't trust him on player acquistions - particularly strikers. I get extremely frustrated with our poor decision making as a club - this goes way before Moyes - and have the chance for a transformative...
100% everyone wants a striker. Always. They are the highest value players and biggest game changes by far. Their value can sky rocket on the back of a purple patch. It's why beating Moyes with the can't sign strikers stick is crazy. He bought...
In theory I would support a system that prevents clubs from financial distress due to irresponsible owners.
The current system though is anti-competitive and run in the interests of a cabal. You can be willing and able to invest but cannot...
That's probably about what will happen.
We won't have a budget for 10 players but will have to try for 8 I think.
Excluding Alcaraz perhaps:
1 x 30m
4 x 12-15m
2 x loans
1 x free/cheap GK backup.
Loans will be critical but I think Moyes will...
Assuming we have 100m before we broke PSR, 100m being generous, it’s impossible to sign 10 quality perm players at an average of 10m.
My guess is more likely 4 perm 4 loans, excluding Charly.
It's been said a lot, but then it was also said about Moshiri at first, and Brands etc etc. In reality i'm not sure it's true. Alcaraz was kind of out of the blue (it was out of the blue that it was announced by Flamengo but then there was...
Not trying to be a misery guts, but it really isn’t that inconceivable.
6 English teams in the Champions League next season. Nearly half the premier league is in Europe next season.
It’s an issue they need to look into. If either us or Roma...
Could see him being a £30m + add ons kind of player. Exactly the kind of player we should be going for. Right age, talent, potential sell on value etc.
Only problem is we need about 5 or 6 £30m players to really improve, and as you say it’s...
Would it help if put on longer deals say 5 yr to spread the cost across. Wouldnt surprise me esp mcatee be a sell on it it or something. I still think if after doak we could get a deal cheaper than what has been reported
