Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, I'm looking for advice. I'm invited to a birthday gathering at the pub tonight. One of the group going has just come down with covid this morning. The group that's going were all together on Sunday morning (I wasn't there). I think they are all testing themselves now. I am supposed to be flying to the US on Friday next week to visit family (basically my brother and my 2 year-old nephew who I've only met 3 times so far). Said family were back in July in the UK and I was supposed to see them there, but had to cancel that trip because I came down with covid a week before. So I'm a bit worried if I go to this thing tonight there might be more of them there with covid who caught off this person on Sunday.

Do you think it would be rude if I pull out of tonight? I just asked a friend and he says there's no point pulling out as you can catch covid anywhere now. But I'm thinking in this case there's been known risky contact which is for me an increased risk. I'm not really sure what to do.
Is it worth jeopardising your trip for ? Not rude as you have a very good reason.

Stay well away ,yes can catch it anywhere but if it is a high risk then the risk is higher ,Hee hee .
Haha yes it seems like there has been known high risk contact which for me changes things but others see it differently

Exactly, if I don't do the trip next week it will probably be getting on for 1.5 years without seeing my brother and nephew, who I already don't feel like I've seen enough of

I would stay away and keep a very low profile until you get away to the US. It isn’t rude in the slightest in this new Covid world.

If you weren't flying to the US I'd be saying take your chances. But the US trip makes it a no no. Just send your apologies mate. I'm sure they'll understand.

Good morning, hope you are all good or at least coping with any given situation, always an ear in here.

I've done a bit of an experiment this morning, I had frozen a carton of chicken breasts without separating them for some reason, so I defrosted them overnight and got the old crock pot out. I had some jambalaya seasoning(cajon with garlic paste) so I whacked that in put stock in some plum tomatoes and some new potatoes and have just left it too cook.

Smells nice enough, hope it tastes as nice lol I was contemplating adding rice and peas but have refrained.

Hope those on hols are having a good time, I lose track of who's on holiday, it's not me I know that lol Have a good day people.
Sling those rice and peas in T. Not too late.

Used to love a good slow cooker dinner. Sling a load of stuff in before leaving for work and coming home to a glorious smelling gaff and dinner ready to be dished up.

Looking forward to the verdict!

Exactly what I'm thinking. Although I'm supposed to be going to a gig in the Netherlands on Sat. So there's risk there too, although at gigs it's possible to stand a safe distance from people usually or even stick a mask on. So I guess not as bad as going to a party where you know everyone there has had direct contact with someone who just caught it.

I would stay away. It is true that you can catch COVID anywhere but, as you say, why increase the risk by going to where you know there has been close contact. Or look at it this way - which would you regret more, missing the birthday do or missing your trip to the US?

Good morning everybody. It was bright and sunny earlier but really clouded over in the last hour. Looks like it might rain. Hope you get your washer sorted @Gwladysover . We had a similar issue a few weeks ago. Retrieved 45p and some indeterminate fluff from the drain hose and so far it has been OK.
We are going out tonight with the people we are going on holiday with. Should be fun. The experienced cruise couple will be doing an all you need to know about cruises sessions to the other four of us who have never been before. I'm seriously thinking about taking a pad and making notes! I've also booked a gym session at 3pm to burn off a few calories before tonight's meal. Speaking of calories I haven't lost an ounce for 3 weeks. However I think I'm toning up a bit because some of my 'snug' clothes are fitting better.
I see Sky are undermining Everton again. Exclusive interview with Benitez. Same as with Allardyce. Ive never seen them do that with any other club. Then reporting on their website a study that shows we've overspent by £85m in the last 10 years based on what we paid for players against their value and could be in trouble. Closer inspection reveals that 17 out of the 19 clubs studied had also overspent and we were 5th highest on the list. They really do have an agenda against us.
Have a good day folks x

Stay away. No question. Once you know and have the intel you have to act accordingly. If you weren’t traveling then the implications are small but I wouldn’t risk it.

Edit.. see loads already gave the right advice.. just wanted to add my 2cents as I’ve been so quiet recently and just wanted to let people know I’m still alive .. work work work… this corporate thing is getting to me this year I’m not going to lie… life’s too short for some of this nonsense! It’s been sucking everything out of me for the last 3 years.. anyway.. short bent over ?
