The obsession with the local extremely overpriced market is baffling, most of our fans were happy to pay 20M+ for Sar, Denis and now Joao Pedro knowing that all 3 of them were playing in the same team last year, the team that was worse than us and got relegated, Broja is the next Pele according to almost every Evertonian, his stats and Youtube videos are average at best.
With people banging on about stats and things, how did Broja’s stats compare to other players in the prem the same age (he’s 6 months younger than Gordon)?

Here’s a comparison against some players we know quite well at the same age:

DCL at same age played 5 games (plus 6 off the bench) - 1 goal, 0 assists.

Richarlison at a year older (when he joined the prem) played 32 (plus 6 off bench) - 5 goals, 4 assists (we payed 50m for him)

Anthony Gordon 25 games (plus 10) - 4 goals, 2 assists.

Broja 21 games (plus 11) - 6 goals.

Ajorque for about 15 is still one I’d strongly consider if we don’t get Broja. He’s a bit older than we want to make a habit of but he’s big, strong and can finish and so can offer an instant and obvious goal threat, which could be greatly important if we spend the rest on younger guys who may have a bit of a bedding in period we can’t necessarily afford to have.
I like the fact that he's a little more creative player that can head the ball and play multiple positions. I do worry about pace with him.

Sell Gordon for £60m, sign Sarr for £20m, Kudus on loan, and use £30m to sign as good a striker as we can from the continent. We'd be much, MUCH improved for it. £10m remaining goes towards out FFP P&L or whatever it's called.
Not sure selling our sought after players and buying relegated players is a great move. We’ve already added McNeil and Tarkowski. We couldn’t do better than Sarr for £20 million? Why did Villa pull out, bad vibes. Swerve.

Here’s a comparison against some players we know quite well at the same age:

Dominic Calvert-Lewin at same age played 5 games (plus 6 off the bench) - 1 goal, 0 assists.

Richarlison at a year older (when he joined the prem) played 32 (plus 6 off bench) - 5 goals, 4 assists (we payed 50m for him)

Yep. That's why it's not too bad buying young forwards, as they usually improve their goalscoring record as they get older. Even Shearer, one of the most prolific goalscorers ever, took a long time to properly start banging in the goals.

Whereas Adams and Maupay etc. we already know their levels.

Well he was always going to get a mention.

This would be why not to sell Gordon, even for the money. We aren’t prepared for it, don’t have options lined up - just end up splurging on easy go to signings to spend the money and get bodies in. They’re not making us better, particularly longer term. Sell, sure, it’s crazy money but don’t spend it crazily….which we will.
