Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

It's the view that the world will end if we don't get a striker in before the next game that I find slightly amusing. I'm not sure if it's just impatience or fear that we miss out altogether that's the key driver. TBF we have ended other windows without bringing in our main target , such as a striker and indeed a right back. But I just feel as though this window is different in that there are so many links. Bottom line is that I'd prefer we took our time and got the right player, rather than rush something through and get it wrong.

When you say you are optimistic Blue, do you mean for the transfer window, or the season or both?. What do you think a decent season looks like, assuming we bring in Gana or similar player, and strengthen our attacking options?
I am optimistic about the whole club ,not sure why with Frank as he hasn't done anything yet -may be that is a little unfair with our signings -happy with the recruitment and really believe we will be top half for sure perhaps pushing for Europe . We bought Fellaini last minute of a tramsfer window and I am sure others ,I might be stupid but there is something about the place that makes me smile this season.

I know you asked Blue but here's my answer Fred

1. A very good season = top 10 , a good cup run and getting rid of Gomes , Gbamin , Allan and lowering the average age of the squad
2. A good season = halfway , a good cup run and getting rid , permanently, of a couple of the deadwood
3. An acceptable season = staying up with no great dramas

Clearly we are in a rebuilding phase . Thelwell has to get players out , reduce the wage bill and still get reasonable results.
I am in awe ,that glass is never full it always remains half empty . Seriously I don't see the obsession with emptying out when we need a bigger squad this season. Yes if we get replacements and lower the wage bill but not just for the sake of it .

Wouldn't disagree with that and don't think that's a pessimistic outlook at all. The hardest part is offloading the deadwood permanently, loans are probably the best we can hope for. I think they'd already be gone if a permanent suitor was out there. I wouldn't judge Thelwell on that though.
Highly paid players past their best are so hard to move on ,it is definitely a case of paying for our sins .

I have just stupidly ventured into the Everton forum ,it takes the reading of two posts and my back is up. I don't know how they can claim to be supporters ( the clue is in the word) ,fanatics they most certainly are but so negative even with players that don't yet play for us .We are all suffering the angst ne'ertheless a semblance of tolerance and less intolerance please.
I miss the days of all the ridiculous ITK’s, Riquelme at West Derby cash point and all that. It was silly and harmless.

I remember there was a guy on Bluekipper back in the day who was sincerely convinced we were signing Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho because he had a mate that worked at the Hilton who told him someone had ordered paella on room service to one of the suites

These days it’s all xG and being the first to spot some 17yo winger from the Latvian 3 division

I'm.always optimistic. I genuinely think we will win every time we play. I know it's daft and my rational self says get a grip! Having said that I would completely agree with what you have said Jazzy.

If we bring in the number of players we are talking about we will have too many players Blue. We can only pick 25 overage players. We will need to offload at least 2 or 3. Selling Gordon doesn't help as he is underage. Ali going will help.

Afternoon all. Last Saturday we visited the kiosk in our local park for a coffee and chat with Lisa and Carlos who run it. On the way home we noticed several police cars speeding down the road, sirens going. Found out this morning they were attending an accident on the parkway in which a young motorcyclist was killed. It was Lisa and Carlos’ son. He was only 22. Puts football in perspective. Don’t want to put too much of a downer on things though - I hope you all have a great afternoon and we are celebrating a win later.?

Mighty Ulysses?
Yep. Ran a stinker. In fairness, they all have this week. Hasn't just been my money back bets either. Only had 2 winners on Thursday and apart from that I haven't really had a sniff.

Just as well I had a good run leading up to it so had a decent kitty to work with. Only positive so far is I've got my £5 free bet for next week.

That was my ITV 7 pick - out at the first race!

Oh that's so sad. Charlotte passed her motor bike test a couple of years ago. She's never been able to finance a bike as well as a car. (Thank God!) but she would love one. I worry enough about them when they drive. I'd be a nervous wreck if she ever got a bike.
