Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, a fine and sunny one today. Have just booked a short break in Edinburgh, something we’ve been thinking about for some time and have put off for one reason or another. Decided it was now or never so went ahead and booked, son has organised rail tickets, fingers crossed they don’t announce a strike for mid-September. Just going to offer to have grandkids for the day so daughter can get prepared as they are going on holiday tomorrow. Excitement levels will be at fever pitch I imagine, think we may need some horse tranquilliser, that will be for me not them! lol Have a good day, all.?

Seems like Edinburgh is the place to go this year. I recommend it H. Me and my mates had a really good time there albeit we were only there for 2 days. Didn't do any sightseeing as we were primarily there for the races, but we have plans to do it again next year and maybe stay a bit longer this time.

Morning all. Looks like it's going to be a nice day down here so may bring out the barbie later. Have some stuff in the freezer that I'd like to use up before the winter comes.

It's hardly rained where I am and looking at the forecast there isn't much due over the next couple of weeks either. Hosepipe ban is due to start next week so may give the windows in the back a quick hose down before it does. Full of spiders webs and seeds from the adjacent fields. I'm not sure what it's like elsewhere in the country, but the only lakes that are emptying down here are the ones the water authorities use for supply. We have countless others that are pretty much full. One of our problems in the UK is the infrastructure is poor and mostly Victorian and often broken. We need massive investment to improve our water supply, replace the rotting infrastructure and tap into some of the other sources that are currently untouched. All this talk of investment in desalination plants is crazy for a country with as much annual rainfall as ours. I swear we have idiots running the country.

Our water supply needs to be state owned, and for that matter all of our other utilities should be too. It would do away with the profiteering and fat cat salaries/dividends and would be far easier to keep a lid on the out of control energy prices. Anyway rant over.

The Everton forum is becoming a no go area now. I only go in there for information on transfers but even those threads are toxic at the moment. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. I don't need telling 10 times a day, every day, by the same posters that we need a forward in this window. It's absolutely tedious. I've stopped reading the posts now and just look for the ones with some sort of link. Anyway, second rant over.

Just done my bets for the day. There's a horse running in th 4.10 at York called "The Flying ginger". Worth a little each way bet I think Anj?

Can't believe it's G&T Friday come around already. Hopefully I'll be having mine sat outside in the sun today. Salmon salad for unch today so some healthy food before my unhealthy burgers and sausages later lol

Have a good G&T Friday everyone.;)

My dad died when I was 14 so we never really connected. I looked after my mum for years when I bought a house where she had a granny flat for her. I was a very senior director in a large multinational but I always bounced tricky situations off my mum and she always gave me the down to earth advice which was always correct. When she died at the age of 89 I was gutted, but to this day I always think ‘what would mum have said’. They are still there in you…..
??Deserves more than a like. That's so lovely.

Definitely agree with everything you said, including the Flying Ginger! I'm on it. I see Strad is a non runner. I love that horse. Mostly because whenever he's in the paddock he has his knob out and the commentators are trying to talk about his form while ignoring how obviously 'excited' he is! Oh, he's being a bit coltish, they usually say. I know, my sense of humour is in the gutter. ?

Ha ha. I've never noticed that before. No wonder he's ran like a 5 legged donkey his last few outings. lol

I've always stayed loyal to Strad until his last race when I went for Kyprios who seems to be the new top boy. But he's not running today so I think it clears the way for the other of the trio Trueshan who ran them both close last time out. I know it's short priced but it's the standout in the race for me.

By the way, I ended up going for Royal Acclaim in the Nunthorpe. It's the money back race today so hopefully it at least get's placed, but I've lost my money back bet on the first 2 days despite going for fancied horses, so that doesn't bode well.

We went to the 2017 St Leger. He ran in that. Was 3rd behind Capri and Crystal Ocean. I reckon Doncaster is my favourite racecourse to go to. It isnt as full of bevvied stag and hen dos as York is. Last time we went, there were three mature Yorkshire ladies there who had a blast. Looked lovely, drank pints, took their shoes off because their feet were killing them and ended up screaming laughing because they found somebody wearing the same dress as one of them!

Ahh. But did they stand up for a piss in the gents toilets like the lovely ladies of Liverpool do???

Hi everybody. Sunny but windy here in the North East. For the second day in a row I have been so engrossed in my work that I have forgotten to take a lunch break....until now. I can't decide if I'm dealing with a saint or a con woman who is preying on elderly victims. All revolves about whether there was an agreement to pay for care and she was helping out or there wasn't and she was robbing them. This is how I fill my days! Throw in dementia and a daughter who never visits but sees her inheritance dwindling and it makes the whole thing really messy.

In other news, daughter has gone to Nottingham to see son. She's baked brownies and cookies for them ( and left some here for me and Mr F) I'm working tomorrow and Sunday but really fancy a few beers at some stage over the weekend. I will make this come true!

Hopefully the boys can get some points on the board, with or without a striker and calm the nerves.
