Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Had lovely trip on the boat today. I was even persuaded to have a go at driving (is that the correct term) after a few minutes and in spite of some helpful “ advice“ from Captain Pugwash in the stern it quickly became apparent that it’s no surprise I never learned to drive a car, I have no aptitude whatsoever when it comes to steering. lol Here’s a few pics.D36DF057-2F1B-4E3B-BBB9-B718A28148D1.webp6EA57092-A05D-4BF2-8F0C-A2594359BCEF.webpC63EDECD-4372-4290-81D7-E70D05C71C8E.webpFCD5BE4E-C359-414F-9DCA-66229ACE1B99.webp

Yeah. It was red rag to a bull by that stage mate. But nevertheless I do think Frank is pragmatic and, whilst he's here, will put him in the squad if fit and use him at some stage. 20 games is not excessive. He played in 14 last season in what was a an injury ridden season as I'm sure you'll agree. He's averaged just under 25 games a season in the 4 years he's been here. When he's fit he'll get game time due to his quality, natural rotation and injury and form of other defenders. Playing fewer minutes may even help keep him fit.

I can't argue with calls of injury prone, made of glass and even unreliable. But I draw the line when people call him a fraud and question his commitment, character and even his integrity. Call him a waste of money, a money grabber and say he shouldn't play for us ever again. Even compare him to the likes of Gomes and Gbamin?

There's another way to view this. Maybe his injuries are down to him putting his body on the line when he plays. Maybe his repeat injuries are down to the club rushing him back too soon because we rely on him so much. And maybe, just maybe, all these injuries are having a psychological toll on him. He clearly loves playing football, you'd have to be blind not to see that, and being injured all the time must me hurting inside. The last thing he needs, or indeed deserves, is his own fans turning against him.

Sorry. Rant over. I'm passionate about this as you can see. But I've always been the same. Whether it's defending our young players in here, or Jordan Pickford when he had his dicey 6 months under Carlo, or even Leon Osman back in the day who took some terrible stick in here.

Anyway, we'll leave it there. I'm giving the Everton forum a wide berth for a while apart from checking up on the transfer latest over the next couple of weeks. Let's hope we get the players in that we still need.
Think we are going to see a lot of transfer activity in the next couple of weeks

Hmm. Captain Pugwash?. I do hope there was no sign of Seaman Staines H.

The weather in Asheville has been glorious the past few days, sunny but not super hot nor cold, just perfect. We went for a hike with Sofi this afternoon and really enjoyed ourselves. The path we were hiking had various berry bushes so we got to munch on berries all the way, which made me think of Blue and his wife. The forest was very moist and luscious so pretty. Here are some pics from our adventure.

Love you Fred. Exactly how I feel.

Tomorrow off for my first visit this year to the Edinburgh fringe with 3 old workmates which has been a regular outing for about the last 10years barring covid.
We've ooked to see Stewart Lee and also the fast fringe show which is a staple watch for us.
Unfortunately one of the guys is testing positive but taking a test in the morning, really hope he's all clear as there are 4 of us and it wouldn't be quite the same without him even though he supports the devil's club.?
Have a great time.

Hi all. Love your pics @Gwladysover . You've had a fun day! I reheat stuff in the microwave, do baked potatoes and, of course, scrambled eggs.

Had a bir of a 'mare with the new work laptop. Picked it up from the office, it worked beautifully in the office. When I got home it refused to connect to anything. Two hours later, multiple calls to IT support and they solved my problems. Also the cable they gave me to connect the laptop to the monitor does not work.

Went to the gym earlier. Had a good session, probably getting rid of all my IT frustrations.

Have any of you been watching the European Championships? I watched speed climbing last night. Blimey! Never seen anything like it. Basically running up a 15m wall in about 6 seconds. They were like human squirrels.
