Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

We might love him and yes he's a character but at the risk or incurring the ire of yourself and Sassy he is of little use to us with his injury record and reported salary.

We should have sold him when we could , now no chance.

We would be mad to try to extend his contract.

Along with Gomes , Gbamin he turns out to be a poor signing and a waste of money.

There is no room for sentiment in elite sport.
Doesn't sound like you love him to me Jazz?

And I don't think it is sentiment. It isn't just his character (which can't be understated as regards dressing room morale by the way). It's the way he plays the game. He's a very good defender, a leader and an absolute snide. The middle 2 seasons we got around 30 games from him and whenever he plays we are always so much better defensively. To compare him with either Gbamin, who hardly ever kicked a ball for us, or Gomes, who has shone only sporadically, is wide of the mark in my opinion. I think it's a shame that his term with us has been so much blighted by injuries, but it doesn't justify the amount of vitriol shown towards him in the Everton forum which is bordering on shameful.
Really ? I thought we were all generally supportive of Frank . He might not have been my first choice but of the eventual shortlist was the best candidate and being a young progressive coach is an appointment I can and do get behind.

He has a difficult job and the club need to give him the tools in terms of players to do it properly
You know who has thrown his hat in the arena and all his detractors are coming out of the woodwork. I think the majority are still in favour Jazz, but it's the anti franks who are shouting the loudest this morning it seems. probably encouraged by their spiritual leader. lol

I think we can agree on that. lol If we do sell him then we have to have immediate good replacements. Otherwise we will just be left with the ones nobody wants and be scrabbling round on the last day of the window, panic buying.
I'm hoping (though not altogether confident based on previous windows) that if we can get the deal done quickly then we'll have the time and money to bring new players in. We are already looking at potential strikers and there are still over 2 weeks of the window remaining.

I've just noticed I'm going to miss the vast majority of transfer deadline day. My cruise starts on 1 September. My flight is 6am and IIRC whist the boat has SSN I don't think it shows it whilst in port. I should be able to catch the last few hours in my cabin though.;)

Let's hope we aren't involved in a supermarket sweep on 1 September.

If we are I really worry for us.

I'd be a crap manager! Nice hair- you're in. Makes me laugh - you can play. Miserable but talented - bench! ? ?

Happy match day lovely people!

I have been silently keeping up with your chat the past few days, it seems you are all doing well but like others have been wondering about our friend @Methuselah and also hoping @Terrarian is doing well. It was another hectic busy week for me, I'm sure ready for summer work busyness to begin dwindling soon and it should. The semester begins on the 22nd, I have a begin of school summer bash to attend next week and two more festivals to work next month but that should seal my summer recruiting season and hopefully things will finally begin slowing down for me a bit at work.

As I mentioned last weekend, Sofia was heading for Girl Scout's camp this week and the hubby and I were looking forward to spending time by ourselves which didn't work out exactly as we hoped because of our busy work schedules, but also on Wednesday we received an email from camp administrators asking to pick up the kids as soon as possible as there had been emergency. Apparently a counselor that everyone was familiar with, but wasn't currently working at the camp, died and then the counselors that were working were too traumatized to keep on with their jobs. The morning the email was sent I was on a campus tour with the President of my College and some big donors so I had not checked my email, thankfully our daughter went with a friend to camp and her grandmother had been checking her email saw it, tried calling me but couldn't reach me, then call the hubby to inform him what had happened. Thankfully she saw that email or I wonder what would had happened otherwise as the people in charge of camp didn't bother to communicate this information by call or text. After the hubby called me thankfully I had just finished my tour and was able to take off with him to get the girls as my daughter's friend's mom was at work and couldn't take off, and the grandma who takes care of her had traveled to another region with the assumption she had not to help with her granddaughter for a few days as she would be away from camp. As the days have gone by and we have talked to the girls about how things went down, we are very upset how the whole situation was approached and handled. The kids were not told anything about what had happened, on Wednesday morning they were all having breakfast at the dining room and all of the sudden all their counselors disappeared and then a few minutes later all these new people showed up and told them they had to pack as they will be going home earlier, no other explanation. Sofia said some of the younger kids began crying as they were afraid, nobody knew what was happening. While I understand how hard it is to lose someone you love, or a friend you are close too, the way the administrators of this camp handled the situation was not only improper but also cruel to the kids that have for months looked forward to this camp and they way the handled the things on Wednesday morning was very improper. Moreover, there were kids there that the parents had to drive over 3 hours one way to get them so for them to have canceled the camp so unexpectedly I'm sure caused a lot of inconvenience and stress to various parents. When we arrived to get Sofia she begin crying as she was upset the camp had been canceled and she was saying goodbye sooner that she wanted to her new friends, my girl is a gregarious as they come lol Anyway, so instead of spending some time romantic time with the hubby, we ended up the week having two tween girls having sleepovers at our house trying to replicate the good time they were supposed to have at camp at home. Thankfully during the day time the grandma, who had to travelled back, helped take care of the girls during the day as we had nothing else scheduled for Sofia and my mom is busy again trying to sell her haunted house. Anyway, that's my crazy week update.

Now let's talk Everton, I'm excited about the new signings and looking forward to today's match, as I usually do when Everton plays. But like Jazzy, I'm a bit concerned who is going to be scoring our goals, but unlike Jazzy I'm also hopeful that some magic may happen and that Gray and Gordon will become getting some chances into the opposition net today :)

Cheers friends! COYB!
Morning everyone. I'm feeling a bit better now, had a rough few weeks of losing the plot but seem to be back to normal(well my normal lol ) thanks for asking those who did.

I have my health check next monday and then see the Dr on the 5th to start the meds, after that I may be a bit quiet for a while as I have a feeling these meds are going to zonk me out.

I've been a busy shopper got a loan and bought a better vacuum cleaner, i got a Shark @jazzy it's belting. I treat myself to a new kettle and toaster as well and a new air fryer, then had enough to treat myself to a couple of pair of trainers.

I have had a few cooking disasters as well, this is why I don't cook. I tried to make a roast chicken dinner with sweet potatoes and roast potatoes, not sure why but I made a right balls up of the mash which was a shame as I had fallen asleep boiling my normal potatoes and the pan boiled dry and stuck them to the bottom, pan now has black bottom in places lol

Then again yesterday tried to make sweet potato mash and made a balls up of that as well ffs. So I have learned I cannot make sweet potato mash lol

Anyway gang hope you're all good and well. I'm not overly concerned about 2 defeats although we need to stop that soon, I like Lampard and hope he is a success, hard with no strikers though and a injury plagued squad. Sorted the defence out but nothing else lol hopefully Onana settles in quick and is actually good.

Great to hear from you T and that you're feeling more yourself. Hopefully the new meds will work for you and you get some relief going forward.

How could you not make sweet potato mash? Cook it long enough it turns to mash on its own.lol

It's going to be an interesting 2 and a bit weeks on the transfer front. make the right decisions and I think we could do OK this season. By that I mean a top half finish.

First time I tried, I did it like you would normal mash but put way too much milk in by accident, second try just added a but of butter but still was a bit sloppy lol I'm terrible me like haha

It's not like normal potatos mate. It turns to mush on it own. But tastes great. I've never tried making a mash but I'd give it another go and this time just season it well and give it a good forking. If it's too lumpy or thick (which I don't think it will be) just add a tiny amount of cream or butter.

Supporters of Frank Lampard need to stay away from his thread. It isn't pretty reading.

And can I just put it out there that fans of a certain age, which is most of us in this thread, will recall that we also lost our first two league games in 1984. Just sayin.
I was in Goodison when they sent leaflets around wanting Howard sacked ,I wonder is it still the same guys ?

Hello mate. Good to hear from you. Things seem to be moving on for you - albeit slowly

Have you got a microwave? Just cook the sweet potatoes whole in there and scoop out the middles - instant mash!

Or go to Iceland. They have some amazing stuff that you can just chuck in the oven. We actually got our Christmas turkey crown from there. It came with bacon over it and a huge ball of stuffing. No mucking about - stuck it in the oven and it was lovely.

What's that about mums and Iceland.?

And it's not, lock up your daughters.
