Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Evening everyone, have had a lovely day albeit started on a sad note. As the funeral was only small (13 of us) there was no wake so we were home by 11. We decided to go for lunch at a country pub, before we left I had a FaceTime call with daughter and grandkids 3 and 4. I mentioned the pub lunch and after some heart rending pleading agreed to take the girls along. Their Mum is working from home so she couldn’t come. Returned home to find a bouquet of flowers on the doorstep, we had missed the florist while we were out. I’m amazed they were still there, stuff often disappears round here if it’s not nailed down, not only me into pillaging @Barnfred 55 lolThen went over to son’s to meet the newest member of the family, dachshund called Minnie. Plus I got my own thread started by the lovely @Sassy Colombian and a birthday card from Everton FC. ?

I‘m happy to read you enjoy a nice day, dear friend. Starting the birthday thread was the least thing I could do for your birthday, if I were win the lottery tomorrow, which is up to $790 million, then you’ll get the real gift ?

The Passage trilogy by Justin Cronin. Introduced to me by by @COYBL25 in tne book club thread with the comment.
the passage first book.. the first 300 pages or so (or about 5% on kindle) .. is still the best opening of a book I’ve ever read…. The rest was just exceptional.
Always used to love a little dysfunction.. John Irving or some serious dysfunction with Chuck Palahniuk ( author of Fight Club)

The days before I got a Netflix subscription and ruined my reading habit!

Paid my first visit to see Cookie the hamster today who I am looking after while my friends are on holiday. She was fine. We had a nice chat ( I did most of the talking) and she had a grape that I brought from our house for her.
We've had some astonishingly heavy rain here today. Started at about 3pm. I won't need to water anything tonight!
The oldest child is 29 tomorrow. How on earth did that happen lol
Happy Birthday, to the oldest child ?, Hope Cookie survived the night. ;)
