Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Folk are dropping like flies at thecrucket. Its 35 degrees. Many are seeking shelter under the stands or in the designated shady area. It's hot but not unbearable for me. Similar to the year I went to Skiathos in August. Had the genius idea of freezing my bottled water last night and now it's icy cold and gradually melting through the day. Is ot too much information to tell you I've got a bottle shoved down my cleavage!

England need some wickets and need them very soon. SA could get about 300 at this rate.

Watching and it looks ridiculously hot. Commentary says ground authorities are concerned for welfare of spectators as so.little shade.

Stokes looks goosed and totally unfit.

Enjoy and take care.

Stokes is struggling. Nor surprised being g a ginger. It's 38 degrees now. Oncr we get past 4pm it the temp should drop a bit.

We've bailed on the cricket and come home. Lasted for about 10 overs of the England innings but it was no longer a fun experience. The queues for the water fountains were longer than those at the bar. The heat was relentless- it didn't cool down much at all. If you're watching on TV you can see there's hardly anybody left. Feel sorry for the many Dads I saw who had brought their young sons with them. The park and ride bus, which was supposed to start running half an hour before close of play, actually started taking people back after about 20 overs of the SA innings. I'm still trying to cool down at home. Have drank gallons of water!

Hey chaps.. back from a long weekend break in the bush… hope you’re all surviving the heat.. hard to believe UK has never had a 40 degree day before.. i had some sweltering days in my time in London… but can imagine it must feel like you’re cooking
Wow that is spectacular BB. Do you get many wild animals coming up close ?

So sad for you Anj that what should have been a fab occasion was ruined by the weather. Don't blame you .

Looks like the pitch has become as lifeless as the crowd.
