They are compared to us.
He would if he had any ambition. Which is worrying in itself.
But I do worry about who we are buying and where from. Our track record isn't exactly stellar in recent times. We need some backbone if we are to avoid another season struggling at the bottom.I think Gordon has enormous talent, and shown it in an awful team. Not Gascoigne levels, or Kane levels, but potential to be very good.
I dont know enough about White, but I hope he can be very good too.
In all honesty mate, I really wouldnt worry about where we are buying from. We have become far too pre-occupied about that, and how we are perceived. It doesnt matter, what matters is how they perform. We signed Southall from Bury, Cahill from Millwall, Arteta from Sociedad reserves, Peinaar from Dortmund reserves.
Maguire and Robertson got relegated with Hull. What matters is the player.
No they didn't. 13th and 10th. Again, after two 7th placed finishes. One of them could have been 6th but they missed out by one goal to Spurs. Still, 3 out of 4 seasons above us since they returned. Why would an ambitious player stay at Wolves? They have came 16th and 10th the last 2 seasons.

Werent they in the bottom 3 for the last 17 games last season? In what way would you define that as "moving upwards"?
They had a bad end to the season after securing their place in the Prem with over 10 games to go. Southampton did similar. At one stage they were talked about as being a top 4 candidate when they were on a charge. They occupied 7th spot prety much exclusively from October until the last game of the season. Same thing when they finished 13th. They were around 10th for most of that season.Werent they in the bottom 3 for the last 17 games last season? In what way would you define that as "moving upwards"?
With the news that we're supposedly close to Collins I would expect MGW is leaving. Thanks for a very considered post mate.
He sounds good, and if we could get a really talented lad from Wolves it would be a bit of a coup, given where we are at. However, he will be working with one of Englands best ever midfielders being bought by Wolves former DOF and playing for Lampard who likes to blood young players. So it would be a gokd step in the right direction for us.
No idea if a deal can be done.
Interesting. Thanks for the info. So do you think he'd fancy a move to us based on this? Or is he more concerned about the money he makes?Gutted about this as a Wolves fan.
I know the valuation seems a lot but it's pretty fair in the modern game. Maddison went for £20m+ a few years ago and MGW has the same stats as him and was the same age. Benrahma cost £25-30m as well, so that's the going rate for top Championship players, which MGW is proven to be.
However, unlike Norwich and Brentford in those instances, we're a Premier League club so that should add a bit more to his value. So, I think £30m is a fair price even if I understand why you would be sceptical.
If he won't sign a new deal we'd have to sell but I'd still be disappointed. We are in a position where we have to sell to buy generally, so letting him go into his final year of his deal makes no sense from our perspective.
In terms of his ability, he's class. He's got so much talent, finds space well, picks a pass and has added goals to his game.
He was unhappy with us that we recalled him from a loan spell with Swansea two seasons ago in January and didn't play him on his return, which was totally valid. Nuno didn't really fancy him for some reason and he was recalled in a bit of a panic with little thinking about his development
Under Lage we hoped he would be key but whilst he was very good in pre-season he was loaned out and that was believed to have annoyed him as well.
There were also issues between him and the fans. He was pictured at a party when lockdown was on with all these divs you get from Love Island or whatever and it didn't go down well, especially at that time. Certainly came across as flash and many of our fans would stupidly lay into his girlfriend on social media. Was all a bit nasty and may have contributed to him not wanting to be here.
People weren't too bothered that he went to Sheffield United and if we do sell him for £25-30m I guarantee you will read many Wolves fans say we've robbed you, you've overpaid etc. but I really don't believe that's the case.
I watch more Championship football than most, so that will influence their opinion. MGW hasn't actually done much for Wolves in his career to date but his quality with Sheffield United was clear to see.
He also played in the 3-4-3/3-5-2 for the Blades, so it left us a bit annoyed that we didn't do more to get him in our team.
The penny seems to have really dropped with him the last 12 months. He can still be a bit petulant at times when I've seen him but he was levels above the Championship and I would back him to go on to play for England the way he has improved.
Basically, this loan was sink or swim and he delivered.
Perhaps the only negative I could see is that there will be a lot of pressure on MGW if he moves to you if he's the big signing and whilst he's not a direct Richarlison replacement, there will be an expectancy for him to do well and maybe he wouldn't get eased in as he might at a Palace, Forest etc.
I don't like our team consisting mostly of English players. 85% of then are overrated guff. Morgan Gibbs White is one of them.
I don’t see how this could be real, we don’t have any money. Stinks of a phantom bid.
Of course it is possible. Tarkowski was free, Townsend was free and Gray was less than 2 million so there are 3 and you still have 28 million to play with.4 premier league players for 30m?
Not in 2022.
Anyone bought for 15m is considered cheap or comes with baggage / high wages that the selling team need to shift

13th to 10th isn't going backwards. Clearly I'm arguing with a moron.Ok, so they have gone from 7th to 13th and 10th. That is going backwards mate.
