He hasn't even appointed a head of recruitment.

….I’m a bit confused about that post.

Like you, I understood Thelwell will Line Manage a Head of Recruitment but I’ve not seen anybody linked with this crucial role. I’m not sure it’s been advertised although I read ‘somebody from Wigan’ has been appointed ‘Head of Recruitment for the Academy’.

GK: Pickford / Begovic
LWB: Mykolenko / Nkounkou
LCB: Colwill / Holgate
CB: Tarkowski / Branthwaite
RCB: Godfrey / Coleman
RWB: Patterson / Aarons
CM: Garner / Davies
CM: Gallagher / Price
CM: Doucoure / Iwobi
ACM: Dele / KLP
LF: Gordon / Gray
CF: DCL / Rondon
RF: Madueke / Dobbin

13 positions there which can all be tweaked and tinkered.

Tarkowski + 6 more signings (incl 2 loans).

Any cash over to replace Rondon and thats probably a top 8 squad.
I love a good Zat list. I used to make them when I was 12.

With 13 positions covered, we might just make the top half.

We’ve seen no evidence he isn’t.

He’s been put in a far worse starting position than any of the others, the window has been open about 45 minutes and we’ve literally only just done the deal that will allow us to spend anything in this window.

He’ll almost certainly prove to be crap because we’re Everton but let’s have a bit of blind faith first, to make our crushing failure that bit more soul destroying.
Given who appointed him, the default position is not "innocent until proven guilty". As far as I am concerned, given the way these charlatans run this club, any appointment made by Kenwright and Moshiri must be considered negatively until proven otherwise. So, Thelwell starts with great suspicion and gets no benefit of the doubt until he earns the kudos to reset these doubts to neutral. His first few weeks have seen a rambling nonsense interview on the official site - where his "plans for the summer" amounted to no more than a trip to America - and the rushed bargain basement sale of Richarlison.

Anybody doing the decent thing by this guy is a mug.

July 1st has arrived so Tarkowski, the new home kit, Richarlison's farewell message :( and i wouldnt put it past Everton that we have agreed to buy one of Spurs's cast offs and rumours will appear soon. Also i did read a tweet the players start pre season today, not sure how legit that was. Let's hope Gomes is absent and completing a medical somewhere else lol

El Bilal Toure rumoured.

My knowledge of footballers doesn't extend to Mariian's playing for Reims but he might fit the category of " find an Emmanuel Dennis before he signs for Watford"

Yeah sorry Zat, but none of this is attached to any sort of rational thinking, it's a firm no from me.

Great idea, but it's cloud cuckoo land.

I feel confident that we won't spend 100million in this transfer window based solely on selling Richarlison. We can certainly revisit things if an other sales are made.
This.

If Moshiri is in the process of selling it would be strange if he was looking to add significant debt.

If a new owner comes in maybe so but at this point I cannot see it.

Our new head of academy has been appointed, he’s from Wigan and he’ll be very good.

I expect it’ll be announced very soon, possibly today.

So, no sale of richarlison before july 1. We cant even do that one right.
Im sure it was done last night with the papers signed and submitted to the PL, it will just be official announcement from the clubs were waiting on i guess.

No Zat, we have to pay clubs for the players we bought, it comes out of our money, we spend like 85% of our income on wages and that was before we lost our USM sponsorship.

Look, ive no idea whats going on, as I said earlier, its way to complicated for me to work out.

All I know is that we spent 1.7million last Summer and we just did everything we could to get our best player out the door as a matter of urgency.

They are not the actions of a club thats about to spend 100m on players or is even able.

You are focusing solely on FFP, focus on PROFIT AND LOSS, no fancy tricks, money in, money out.

I agree with you we wont spread over 5 years, most likely 3. You have to also factor in wages. So 20m is probably likely to be 10m fees x 3 and 10m wages. So around 30m with 200k pw to spend. Crude numbers, and there are so many moving parts, that we simply don't know.

The 1.7m is interesting really. We didnt have that big sale, and I wonder if they were hoping Kean would have gone which would have helped. My own view, is that Benitez came in, and was like wtf is this, and put everything on the shelf (which was one of the few good things he did).

The alternative is that the PL basically said to them, you can only spend x if you sell y.

In either scenario, selling a player would help. Selling another player would give us real flexibility. The club are heavily briefing against it, but if a "silly" offer came in for someone, we may well look at it.
