ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

That’s pretty basic stuff when going to any big event though mate.
You don’t have your ticket in an accessible pocket.
A game with them lot you have a pair of shorts under your kecks and keep valuables in them / a zip jacket under another jacket etc.
Christ, my arl fella kept tickets in a cricket jock strap once and wouldn’t take them out until at the turnstile !!
I'd love to have seen the face of the woman on the turnstile when he retrieved his ticket.

How do we know the exact numbers? We don't...

UEFA and the French authorities went straight to 'blame the fans/British'. When their disorganisation was clearly a big part of the problem.

I'm not saying Liverpool fans were blameless.
You saw the stairways were full of supporters. What does that say? These were the ones that got in, how many didn’t, along with the genuine ticket holders.

Absolutely, but one end of the ground that seemingly is a bit of a bottleneck given how the fans have to travel in from the station?

I haven't been to the Stade de France but is there also a flyover surrounding the other side?
It doesn’t seem to have proven a problem at all the other major club games, internationals or rugby internationals there though.

I have yet to hear any media ask a rs apologist for comment on klippety's grossly irresponsible encouragement to tens of thousands to travel even though ticketless. This contrary to official rsfc advice.

Also to estimate how many forged tickets were bought up by rs knowing they had to be fake....but so what we are libpoo.

Also to explain the overcrowding in the rs half, and why it would have been a good idea, despite this, to "open the f*****g gates".

I am not a UK citizen, but maybe a few thousand letters/emails to the Press Council pointing out the dreadfully biased coverage, and also BTW the complete lack of acknowledgement of the meaning of 29 May to the families of 39 innocent victims of the greatest fans in the weeerld.

Does that mean that all fans coming from RER B went through the tunnel checkpoint, or was there segregation so that only rs did, and Madrid fans went another direction?
Don't know.

I have been four times, arriving via RER B and had to walk through that section.

If that is how you arrive to the ground then that is the obvious route to follow.

Always thought the setup under the tunnel was an accident waiting to happen but it has appeared to work until now.

It does support the idea of thousands more than capacity trying to get through.

Multiple reports from Sky, BBC, Guardian, Telegraph - it's all out there mate, and the videos show it.

That was at the end of the flyover, before they got to the stadium itself.

Would it not have made sense to have two or three checkpoints - which I believe has been the case for previous finals.

Liverpool could and should have done more and the fans need to accept some blame (they won't). But UEFA lying was sickening and the French police's brutality shouldn't just be accepted as 'oh it happens'. There's rightfully anger here when the Met do anything wrong - which they do a lot of course. Macron has had his bullies scrapping every weekend for the past 3 years, bar 2020 for the pandemic.
forgive me.

the geo-political nature of france and its elected officials to one side, and the met who have no relevance in this cauldron also aside, the attitude, ignorance, and rabid nature of a mass of hooligans hellbent on access where they were not entitled is the key to ALL of this.

like blaming my hangover on the licencee or the brewery.

dole out the blame where everyone else has, as humorous and scathing as can be. they lost their minds, they lost any remaining shred of dignity and best of all they lost the final.

Get Carlo knighted!

It doesn’t seem to have proven a problem at all the other major club games, internationals or rugby internationals there though.
And again, what was the security and stewarding like at those matches? Was there more on - this all has to come out in the wash.

The stewarding is on UEFA. I do find it insane that they had that few stewards on that initial check point.

I also fully agree that Liverpool fans need to realise this problem does only happen with them, as much as they claim it doesn't. I still think the onus is on authorities not to lie (like UEFA did initially) and be better organised.

….there should be an acceptance that blag tickets and fans jumping turnstiles were factors. The evidence seems indisputable, we’ve seen on here fans boasting how they got in without tickets, we’ve seen blag tickets for sale. I personally spoke with a fan who got to his seat to find it already occupied.

Surely the issue is whether the response of the French police was proportionate and whether the stadium organisation added to the problems.

There's some good points raised - Liverpool as a club need to accept more responsibility. Laying on travel would have been a good start.

But that article says as much about the current political mess in France too.

As bad as our lot.

Telling their manager to pipe the fcuk down and not invite everyone over as there's loads of room in Paris would have been a start Toff.

That's where issues start, no self management, no awareness of how people are that unhinged they take his word literally and think its OK.

They were given 19.5k tickets. No need for another 30/40k knobheads to go over as it just causes issues upon issues upon issues. I told my mate to sell his ticket a couple of weeks beforehand and he asked me why. I told him that one inch of trouble and the police would wade in and they wouldn't need a 2nd Invitation. They're not my club, not my final but you know a bit of common sense needs to be used as they've got form for wading in without needing much to set then off. So I knew that there could be kick offs, so why didn't the other 30k who went be sensible and think the same? Or the manager just pre warn them, or a statement from the club telling fans not to travel?

So common sense says, go if you've got a ticket but if you haven't don't bother as it's just not worth the risk. That's what their gobshite of a manager should have said as the leader of their cult.
