Nah, The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses knocks the spots off it (imo)
I adore (pun intended) the singles from that album but I find the psychedelic stuff well wanky. The gap between Waterfall and Made of Stone in particular. As a one-two punch to finish an album though. I Am The Resurrection and Fools Gold is right up there.

And also there is the fact that Ian Brown exists. And he's somehow more of a plum than both Gallagher brothers combined.

The band behind him though *chefs kiss*

A 10/10 rager on a an album of 10/10 ragers.

...and probably my vote for best debut album ever.

massively in to them as a young un, but Always preferred their b sides, some absolutely incredible b sides which were far better than their album fare for me. I went to knebworth and got covered in urine but mostly went for the Prodigy! I’ll raise you a Stone roses, velvet underground, Grace, led zeppelin, Talking heads or the doors as a debut but ive never heard better b sides before or after (maybe Radiohead)

Fool's Gold isn't on The Stone Roses.

It appears as a bonus track on some later editions because it was their "big" single.

Aye, shame Ian Brown is such an embarrasment these days though.

When they split, even though I liked Squire's guitar work on the Seahorses LP, Brown's solo work was always closer in spirit and ambition to the Roses I thought, really liked his first 3 albums.

Agree 100% I liked Ian's early solo stuff too and have seen him solo more than once, but thought The Seahorses were absolutely turgid. I saw one of their first shows and can rarely remember leaving a gig so disappointed.

He's embarrassed himself in recent years though with some of the absolute nonsense he's been spouting on the socials.

Sad, he was an absolute hero of mine in my teens.
