It's not the leg on the floor, it's that both sets of studs are showing that is the issue.you

It was also a stupid thing for him to have done at the time and it looked worse and worse with every repeat on TV.

Agree, that's a red, no arguments

If it had been done to one of ours, all of us on here would be screaming for a red Cardinal

Of course we would have been screaming for a red card, but, it's highly unlikely we would have got one. Regardless of the letter of the law, we see these tackles week after week and they usually evoke a yellow card or just a free kick and a caution for the offender. These matters are down to how the official interprets the rule book and he then weighs up the individual incident and makes his decision. The point I am making is that normally he would not have been red carded for this tackle, it therefore follows that he was unlucky to be sent off.

Hoping Chelsea can turn this around with them 1 up. I take it the Goodison match would be between their SF ties so that would be huge help rather than just them having one league game a week at that point.

I dont buy all this on the beach stuff myself and never have, they are professionals and will want to win even if they have nothing to play for, that's how i see the games,

It depends really.

Think back to the home game v Bournemouth on last day of 19/20. That was a proper on the beach performance. O.k it was BCD and everything else but team had gone to Sheffield United the week before who were having a very good season and won 1-0. Bournemouth could've scored 5 or 6 that day.

I can also remember going to watch game at Villa in May 2015 when they were fighting for their lives and team was non-existant as attacking force in first half despite having still outside shot of euro qualification, constantly lost all the 50/50s (which is always a sign of the demotivated team) and didn't bother making Benteke for any of the crosses.

Ultimately just have to continue playing home games in manner of having to win at all costs as that approach has worked well lately. I would say though it would be big achievements for Palace and especially Brentford to finish in top 10 of the league so dangerous to just assume they won't do anything but go 1-0 up early and I'm not sure either will dig that deep.

If we can pick up 7 points from those I'd say we're gaurenteed safety barring some miracle run from the teams below us.

It's a big ask but it's doable. If Watford away can be 3 points of the 7 that'd be massive for us also.

I'm not saying our season is defined by those results. If we ended up only getting 4-5 points from those fixtures there are still games after where we can get points but if we gain 7 points from those 5 I'd say the monkey is off our back for the remaining 3 games against

Brentford H
Palace H
Arsenal A

If we play like we did against United or better then I believe we could pick up 4-7 points from the last 3 I just don't want it going down to the wire for us in the final few games if it can be avoided. I've had enough stress this season to last 12

It is indeed a big ask to get 7 points from the next five given 3 are away. I feel we will fall short of your hoped for 7 points and we may need something from the final three games. Then again I have a suspicion the points total to stay up this year will be low, possibly a new record. I think the lowest points tally in PL history was 34 so maybe 2 more wins will be good enough, maybe less. What must be avoided for the sake of sanity is going to the Emirates needing a result

Well here's hoping the lads can pull it off! I thought it was 31. But as Grandoldteam pointed out to me it was 29 pts to stay up last season.

Yep, West Brom stayed up with 34 in the 2004/05 season, last match of the season we were bottom and had to win and the 3 above us had to loose, luckily it happened, the West Brom match finished about 3 mins before the other games so all players stood still on pitch and the crowd were dead silent waiting for the other results to come in, when they finally did everyone just ran on pitch, surreal moment.
