What evidence do you have that Fonseca will manage to get his style across to the players and also tighten up the defence?

Allardyce won't keep us up. This side might stay up if we keep Mina fit. That would be a requirement under Lampard too.

I think when we appointed Lampard, you are appointing someone for a building job. He could turn out to be a good manager, he might not, but you don't appoint a manager like him and then punt him after 11 or 12 games when he has inherited a total mess.

We should never have appointed Benitez and they should have punted him so much earlier to give us a fighting chance. But no, they gave him complete control of the January transfer plans. Meaning we had to leave him in post longer (even I, who was appalled by the appointment of Benitez, was thinking that we have to stick with him now we've done that). THEN punt him 2 weeks later. The lack of planning was abysmal.

We should have appointed a manager like Lampard in the summer instead of a tool like Benitez. But now we've done it, we have to stick with it. I don't think anyone will get us up from the championship, so may as well give Lampard a crack at it if he wants to remain.

I think come 2.15pm Saturday many people will disagree with that I fear.

Cant defend
Cant score a goal in open play

I've been disappointed in Lampard I didn't expect miracles with this squad but he's been given a massive leg up in the fanbase because of who he replaced rather than what he has done here.

Benitez had 20 games as manager
Lampard has 18 i.e half of the season.

If we go down one will take the blame with the players and the other absolved of any and given support to rebuild us - how that works I dont know.

Alladyce or Fonesca for me.

Even if we went down with either I would be confident in both bringing us back up. Fonesca is a better version of Silva who's just humped the Championship with a nothing Fulham side.

Lampard had a similiar strengthed Derby and finished about 6th and lost the play offs. Forget just staying up we need a sure thing to drag us back up if we do go down - what are you seeing in Lampard that makes you confident in him bringing us back next season with this squad of players?

lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol

Agreed.
But i don’t think getting rid of frank is the answer. I don’t think Houdini gets us out of this mess.
Whatever happens now I would like to see stability and the management team to oversee a complete overhaul which will definitely need to happen anyway if relegation happens.
And stop buying carp players… out recruitment has been the worst by anyone on living memory

Get rid.

Agree with every argument to keep him under normal conditions. If he’d come in and lost nearly every game and we weren’t in trouble? Yes, give him 3 windows to build his team, to do it his way.

under the conditions that we are very very close to being relegated? We don’t have that luxury, we’ve reached desperation time, we have nothing to lose by sacking him and possibly lots to gain.
Hear hear, these are extraordinary times so extraordinary decisions need to be taken.

It’s completely insane to bring in a third manager in a season. We’re a basket case and deserve everything that’s coming.
Yeah, I know, and I wasn’t even contemplating it until I saw the polls. But relegation kills us, the more I think about it the more I am sure that we never come back. Frank is the manager we should have appointed once relegation was avoided, I think long term he could be successful. Can’t we send him and the wife away to the Bahamas for 3 months and get him back for next season (might make him smile again)? I don’t like the idea any more than you, but if relegation is death do you cross your fingers with Frank or roll the dice one last time. It’s horrible, I am so glad I am not the one who has to decide, but this is biggest moment in our PL history, do you risk it all?

Joking aside mate, I actually thought this was a reasonable one to pose. There's a lot of speculation (see the Sky report) doing the rounds. We're in the crap, no doubt about it but I am not convinced firing Lampard solves much. Judging by the poll, most agree.

unless we can sack these players mate

it’s not worth sacking lampard

if “they were going to” they would of

he’s 10 games in ffs.

none of us want to be in this position imo

??.

Your continued defence of Benitez is astounding. He has destroyed us.

Whoever came in was left with an ungodly mess to clear up. Yes Lampard makes mistakes, but I don't believe anyone could get much of a tune out of this lot by the time Lampard came in.

Plus, I am certain that Lampard would have us a few point higher now if he'd have had Mina available. Obviously that cannot be proven but that was a huge loss in only his second game.

If we go down Benitez deserves the blame as does Lampard and the players.

What you are saying is Lampard has a free pass all 2nd half of the season which is nonsense - why wasn't Alladyce or Carlo given free passes when they took over from us in the bottom 3 spots looking all over the place.

These players are crap but I thought Benitez was badly organising them hence why he needed to go? But now another manager comes in and they cant do any better than Benitez?

2+2=5

So much whataboutery there fella that you could head up Trump's media team.

The point is that the damage has been done. Pulling the plug on Lampard now won't save us. If Everton wanted a firefighter they should have appointed one in January. We will need a manager with fresh ideas to rebuild this team next year, regardless of where we finish and what league we are in. To appoint a firefighter now would be too little, too late and we would then be in a position of looking for a manager to build again next season.

It would be another example of Everton compounding already poor decision making.

Which includes Lampard why are you not willing to accept that? Lampard didn't take the job on last week mate.

Benitez left when we were about 6 points clear of the bottom 3 sat in 16th with 18 games to play

We're now 1 point clear of the bottom 3 sat in 17th with 9. games left to play.

Blame Benitez for the 1st half of the season - sound

Blame the players for being crap - sound

But claim Lampard gets a free pass for 18 games? Come on lad and you say I'm the one with the Trump esque agenda.
