Haven’t actually played at St Jude’s, though I have at the Miners a few times. My home venue was Platt Bridge. Played in the scout hut at Rainford a few times. Played there against Geoff Pye amongst others. Not played in Wigan though for a couple of years
If you ever fancy a game in Southporg give me a shout.

I will do. Problem is, I live in Salford these days for my sins. Maybe when I retire from work next year and I’ve got a bit more time. Think Chris Ford was the top Southport player a few years ago. I can hear Geoff shouting ‘come on Pye’ in a strong St Helenian accent!

A different game but a very skillful one.
Ping pong is played with hard bats.
Table tennis is played with sponge bats.
Somewhat confusingly you can play in the table tennis league with a hard ( ping pong ) bat - I can think of one very highly skilled player in my league who does - but you are at a massive disadvantage when it comes to imparting speed and spin.
Ha, thanks for the clarification. Tbh all this time I had thought table tennis and ping pong were the same so it is great to be enlightened ?
