The thing that might give him false confidence is Europe is completely out of the picture now and once we are away from relegation they may well but a very impressive run together as we have notoriously done when there is no pressure of achieving anything.

He might get a shock next season when the pressure is on.

I think if were able to get results (which I expect) over the next 3 games then we'll be sling-shotted back into mid-table.

Hopefully thats when we see Patterson and Branthwaite get more game time.

Not sure about next season being 'pressure' to get results.

For me, its more about finishing in the top 10 after recycling a large number of players out of the squad and a handful of new players coming in.

Continuously building and developing players.

I find it quite confusing that fans who didn't necessarily want Rafael here but decided to support him for as long as was feasible are getting slated?

The inability of the players to show any consistency under a manager like Ancellotti should have at least indicated that there was a bigger problem at hand than just how the manager sets them up. Rafael at the very least will hopefully make them realise how lucky they are to be footballers and to have had managers who will be tolerant of them....

Lampard is not stupid. He will know quite clearly that effort levels were not good enough under Rafael and other managers - he is getting them on side and working on the "build up confidence" approach. In the back of his mind he knows this group of players will throw him under the bus when the going gets tough for them.

There is no doubt in my mind he is weighing them up and the usual suspects in the team will be on their toes for the time being.... I think he is smart enough to spot the signs of a team putting their slippers on - it will happen. Just wait.
Or maybe he's a lot cleverer thank you give him credit for.
For all the crap that has been played there still a group of players that where pushing for Champions lge not so long ago.
These players have had to endure turgid hit & run tactics for a while now , they sat that deep the defence was under almost constant pressure why do you think Digne fell out with Jaffa.

Lampards tactics must be like a breath of fresh air to these players.

and the same group of players gave us the worst home record we've seen under ancellotti after looking like league contenders.......

they have gone from opposite ends of spectrum with 2 different managers.

Man City or Liverpool could go without their managers for a month and still get results. They have good mentalities

By that metric, every pass is simple then. It's only kicking a ball innit ? ?
It's a pretty standard way of describing a pass in football mate, i'm not having a go at him. It's a little dink over the top into acres of space, not a pinpoint pass through the eye of a needle. In footballing terms it's a pretty simple pass but executed brilliantly, absolutely nothing wrong with that.

That goes for most teams in the Covid empty stadiums season.
Yet our notoriously bad away form was much better.

As has been said many, many times Carlo's season fizzled out losing Digne , Doucoure & Allan without having the squad to cover them.

But you knew this.

Lampard ( yes its only one game ) had these players with 80% of the ball at times in saturday.

Very ,very, very long time since that happened.

I would just like to see steady progress, building a cohered team, with players that the manager has identified to play a certain way, any weak areas strengthen correctly, given time and not just people expecting to beat everyone every game.

I can't be bothered if we lose 1 or 2 games people have meltdowns its boring

If we stay positive, keep building, the results and the table will come, lets go into the new stadium a SOLID premier league team and go from there

Let's hope he changes this.

Nearly as bad as Burnley.
