…..hopefully we have a fresh & progressive start and that must also include the end of Duncan Ferguson. We can’t have an appointment that has a clause for him continuing as an Assistant Manager.

Fresh start means fresh personnel, not somebody who has sat alongside a series of failed managers.

The team selection and formation on Saturday reflected his lack of judgement, innovation and coaching expertise. Being an iconic personality for some fans is not a qualification for him to be involved in the playing side of things. It’s all too romantic and totally unprofessional.
Completely agree BUT moving him out would need a board decision to do so mate, can't leave that to a new manager to do as it'd instantly turn a certain percentage of Dunc Fanboys against them.

Lampard, Morris, Terry I'd hope to see all those names alongside maybe Carsley and definitely Cahill coming in over the next few days tbh.

Morris replacing Dunc, Carlsey replacing Unsworth helped/mentored by Morris, Terry in as a defensive coach.
Cahill as Sporting/Technical Director.

Bring in a group of driven staff all hungry to succeed

They were closer to 1st on points when Lampard was sacked than where Tuchel has them now. Assuming City win their game in hand.

Lampard clearly has more experience in English football and is a well respected figure amongst other players due to his achievements. That alone gives him an edge over a guy who won league titles in Portugal a decade ago and a title in the tinpot Greek league.
You can't just assume games in hand are won to prove your point lol. We win our games in hand were 12th. Lampard was extremely lucky with derby relying on a lot of loans. He then underperformed with Chelsea. The last manager we had also had a wealth of experience in English football. If we appoint him we will be right back in this situation again next jan

Last season wasn't real football with the behind closed doors games. Things happenned that aren't going to happen again. We won at Anfield, the emirates, Spurs etc and the reds lost like 5 or 6 at Anfield against bottom half sides.

Basically, I don't think what happened last year matters that much. In the previous year of real football, Lampard got top 4 using young players, during a transfer ban, after Hazard was sold. He did a good job. Maybe not an outstanding one, but the idea he failed is totally wrong.

I've wanted Lampard since June and still do. Appointing him last summer would have made things a lot easier, but we are where we are, and I still think he can turn us round with time. The next appointment needs to be the right one for the long haul which is why I am so against the idea of Pereira as an interim. The thought of another managerial search in 4 months is not a good one.

Also think the teams built to do a high press got affected more by the closed doors games mate, that kind of system and the players does feed off the crowd hugely to maintain the intensity

Probably because that would give you an idea of how lucky or unlucky they were and how he played with them outside of just he took them down so he was clearly bad. We don't know if he improved their plat or not.

He hardly took them backwards when they finished bottom 4 in both the previous years and one time with fewer points. They were exactly as bad as before and he didnt improve them but didnt take them backwards. The club was in such a mess that they got a double relegation because the owner refused to pay the league fees. And as stated if relegation was such a shock whyve they finished 12th, 8th, 4th, and 10th in the division below? Maybe this 1860 club just isn't very good perhaps...

Compared to us who finished comfortable midtable last season and definitely have a squad with an ability above those around us.

How they play isn’t relevant if you get relegated. He’s apparently looking at a six month contract, any focus should be on how likely we are to survive.

Mad to say he didn’t take them backwards, you’ve just said they had not been relegated, and he joined and they got relegated….

Of course how they play is relevant for example with 5 minutes left on the final game of the season they were safe in 14th. For all we know VP could've made a change that sent them down or their keeper could've been hit by lightning. But we didn't watch them to know.

They finished 16th, 15th and 16th. On 36, 34 and 36 points. They objectively did not go backwards. They were exactly as bad as they had been which is why they never bounced back.

Pereira going around telling journalists he was the favourite and then calling Sky Sports because of the backlash caused is, honestly, quite brilliant.

Almost tempted to want him because he'd be more of a lunatic than Moshiri.
It is tempting he seems so unhinged there would be chance he would try to stage a coup and oust Moshiri. That would be entertaining

They got relegated after he joined. They didn’t get relegated in the years before he joined.

How is that not taking them backwards lol

I don't get how people can even do the mental maths to possibly defend a bloke who, in the middle of the interview process, has decided to speak to Sky Sports and the Mail have now basically said it was him who was leaking stuff to them.

The bloke - and his advisor (which is the real worry as it's likely the same advisor that Moshiri has) is a complete lunatic.

Lampard took Derby and Chelsea backwards then. Ancelotti took us backwards from Silva based on your argument lol.
How does that work with Lampard? He got Derby into the playoff final. Unless they'd been promoted the year before, then no he didn't take them backwards.

His first Chelsea season was decent, second one poor (albeit they were flying until we beat them in December 2020 at Goodison)
