Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

View attachment 152034Had a great night reminiscing the old days last night. Everybody was passing around old photos they had on their phone. Somebody brought out a photo of some Speke lads we all knew taken with Duncan McKenzie in Rotterdam 1985. I didn't realise what it was at first but when it sunk in I knew that I was with them. That's me I exclaimed. Second left on the top. No way haha. I was that pissed I don't even remember it being taken.

That is really a very very special photo to me. Always said that day was my second best day out ever after my wedding day. And Dunc was my hero.

Can't help feeling Cal pulled a blinder there. I didn't even know that picture existed. And it looks like I'm wearing an Everton hat. I've never owned an Everton hat in my life ?
I’m in that photo Fred, wow small world or what I recognize a few faces, Fred Jones

That's brilliant Fred. Those were the days, eh. Oh to feel proud of our team again and expect to win every match.

I'm happy to hear you're having such a good time on your visit mate. It's really put a smile on my face.

Wow. Which one are you mate.?

Do you know where that photo was taken. I remember Duncan being carried on people's shoulders down the street. We were sitting outside a burger bar. Really don't remember that photo though. I was with Degsey Daley, Freddy Jones John McKay who you can see smoking the spliff and a lad known as Cobber. Freddy sold his wife's sewing machine without telling her to pay for the trip. She battered him all over the show when we got back.?

Forgot to mention. Barry Wilkos name came up in conversation last night. Not good I'm afraid. He's fighting alcohol addiction. The lad who gave me the photo is actually related. Barry's wife, Irene, is his dad's sister. Known him years but never knew that.

Me too. No idea where my old mate got it from. Forgot to ask him. He wasn't even there so why he had it I don't know. I'm so chuffed I got that though. Can't wait to show it to my nephew later. He's a good Blue. His PCR test came back negative so he'll be joining us for family lunch at the Bear and Staff. I vaguely remember ending up in Woolton last night.?
I went with a coach and we did Rotterdam and then stayed somewhere near the M25 ( although it wasn't there then ) in a travel lodge or similar and on to Wembley without going home .Possibly the best week of my football supporting .
There was a lad on the coach when I got on legless on Everton Valley ,he wasn't sober all the time but managed to have his eyes open for both matches ,a miracle of human endeavour .

Go on I'll say it "I bet he was in stitches"

Superb, Fred. What a nice surprise your friend had for you bringing this memory from the past to the forefront and for you to share it with us a bit of your past, love it!

My brother taped the euro final for me. When I watched it after I got back, I realised I didn't remember any of the first half. I had drunk 18 bottles of Grolsch throughout the day though. ?

Good morning, friends.

Just waking up, went to bed late last night after watching movies with the family. My crew still snoozing but our new cat kept meowing so she got me up. I think she is a bit confused with the snow as she probably has never encounter it. So far we only have about 5 cms of snow but more is predicted throughout the day. Maybe later once my daughter wakes up, I will dare to step outside and take some pics but for now I’m just appreciating the snow from the comfort of my sofa lol

Today I woke up thinking about our friend Karl who we lost exactly a month ago, and how mad he would have been had he witnessed yesterday mess of a match. He wanted Benitez gone so hopefully his wishes will come true soon.

We miss you, Karl!
