I agree mate but there’s a reason why we’d would take a loss and it’s because he’s not good enough. I’d rather we got rid of players that aren’t good enough instead of keeping them so we don’t be seen to lose money.

I don’t think we’re in a position to do that though. The bigger the loss the less we can spend on transfers, or more likely may have to sacrifice good players.

If he had competent centre backs behind him and some decent full backs he’d look miles better. He is brilliant when the distance he has to cover is manageable. When this becomes stretched he gets played around which is why he looks rubbish when Doucoure isn’t fit. If the guys around him could hold their positions and press properly then I’d wager Allan would suddenly look a lot better in that role.

Whilst he isn't very mobile for this league Allan would be fine in a three as we saw last season in a two with Doucoure who likes to push on too and is having to restrain himself both of them look out numbered and cumbersome at times.

I think we should sign a midfielder that doesn’t need two other players to do their running for them for the first time since Gana.

IF we had manager that played a 3 in midfield....all they had to do was upgrade that 3rd player (that isn't Gomes or Davies) with a genuine ball carrier. It's that simple.

Don't forget last season, his job was to protect the back line. We had James, to provide the attacking skill (all be in little periods until winter set in). This season he is being used further forward and it just isn't his game. I think we should try a three men in the middle and let Alan protect the back.

Allan is a box-to-box player. His great strength in Naples was his energy, work rate, stamina, aggression and ability to press.

I don't rate him all that much personally. Then again, it's clear as anything that he's better in a 4-3-3 with an extra CM in there yet we refuse to play to that...

He wasn't good last season either though.

He's great when x y and z is in place. Shame x y and z very rarely is.

Allan’s game is certainly not to protect the back line, he is absolutely useless at it. Davies offers more protection to the back line when he plays, genuinely.
