Just what we need a crap midget cb who's only contribution to PL football is leading a defence that let 60+ goals in every season.

He is without a doubt the most overrated player to of ever played in the Premier league. How a crap David Luiz has somehow managed to con his way into this city side is nothing short of mind blowing.

Got almost zero faith that Benitez will spend money wisely, so selling Digne should not remotely be on the menu. We need to add to our decent players not subtract, unless we’re implementing a sell big buy low with quality replacements strategy ala Leicester.

His Newcastle buys should wave a huge red flag as he is shopping in the exact same market with a similar amount of money.

It’s possible if our midfielders remain fit that he’ll wait til summer to sign Longstaff, but I dread to think who he will bring in. This is a man who paid money for Christian Atsu.

There’s other rightbacks in the world than Livramento or Lamptey. Perhaps with Gerrard gone we’d move for our summer target Patterson again. We need to be finding the next emerging players like we tried to do when Reece James was at Wigan, rather than waiting until they’re flying at a premier league club.

He's brought in Andros and Demari Gray, Townsend granted isn't consistant but Gray will become one our best recent signings, even with a DOF (supposedly knowing what he's doing) we have signed utter dross. Let's judge him at the end of two windows.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t remember hearing any wind of the Townsend & Gray signings before they were signed. Was there?

I‘m hoping for the 1st time in the club’s history, we’ve already identified our targets & done deals ready to unveil on the 1st Jan. Other clubs manage it.

Absolute minimum a RB & CB.

Hopefully an exciting loan too. Must be fringe players at likes of Barca we could give game time to.

Will be Mazraoui, contract expiring end of season. Looks a decent player.

Developing into a very good right back.

I mentioned him as one we should go for due to his ability and contract situation

One snag is that Benitez tells our full backs to sit back (Digne) and so Mazraoui wont exactly benefit from that.

The only one who looks mostly strong defensively is Livramento of all the ones linked.

None of the others are what you would call 'defenders first' whose job is to stop crosses...

The player who would be perfect in Benitez' system (so far) is Wan Bissaka...or we go for Matthias Ginter.

Hes primarily a centre back but a strong defensive right back, out of contract in the summer.

I’m not even 100% convinced we’ll sign a right back. I think we’ll sack Benitez and Bill will give the new manager the “Seamus is Mr Everton” fluff and he’ll be obliged to keep him around as first choice.
