We're still a club that absolutely refuses to give young players game time and would rather stick with clear failures shoehorned in wherever possible. If Gray was fit for 90 mins today Gordon would have been sat alongside Dobbin and Simms on the bench while Iwobi and Rondon ran around to little effect yet again. In fact one of them would have probably been dumped from the travelling squad to make space for a second keeper on the bench as 3 young players from the academy on the bench would have been too much to bear for our current manager...and his predecessor.
How today wasn't an opportunity to show him and others at the club that chances will come is a massive failing.

Rondon has a similar whiff of cuco Martina who was brought in supposedly like Rondon for utility reasons but due to daft recruitment and misfortune becomes a regular and dreadful starter. The lesson should be clear every player you enlist should be the best you can secure dont purposely set out for a squad player, instead You should be recruiting potential first team players competing for that spot.
