Hamilton realistically needs a Verstappen DNF in one of the last 4 races.

Mercedes have played their hand so poorly this season. They've taken engine penalties with the expectation that it'll give them the advantage heading into the final few rounds, but as it happens its complicated their run in, cost them points, and put Hamilton out of the reckoning even before we reach those races. I don't think I've seen a season where a team has got it so consistently wrong - every time they've had the fastest car they've managed to complicate things, usually resulting in them losing to Red Bull.

2021 has made his 2012 season look slick in comparison.

The other cars realise they aren't racing him for a position so basically let him past. Consider Ferrari/McLaren - why take the risk by fighting him and spinning out?

Hopefully be able to pass both red bulls now with his extra speed, I wonder if Max will fight hard. He would be better off letting Hamilton go, turn down the engine and get fastest lap late on.

I very much doubt Hamilton gets by Max on the track. The pace differential isn't what it seems.

Best hope he has is being close enough for the undercut but if Perez stays ahead and slows him down then that's that.
