We spent a cycle developing Barkley, Stones Lukaku but by the time they got to be good prem league players and were ready to play for a club getting regular European footie, the players around them were a mess and they ended up going. We’ve spent the last 2/3 seasons developing Calvert Lewin and Ritchie, same things going to happen- the players around them aren’t good enough and they’ll want to go and play for clubs that create chances for them to score and has a chance of winning things and playing in Europe.
We’ll have to start over trying to build the nucleus of a team again. Frustrating doesn’t begin to cover it.
