I actually think it's a bit of both mate
But, I do think they'd free up some cash to help out as long as we can get a player or two out.
Whether that cash is enough for anything more than a loan or two, I don't know.
The right-back issue is a disgrace though and someone needs jibbing for it.

Kean isn’t suited to the club in my opinion. We want a forward we can launch crosses into, Carlo did it, “the manager” is doing it now, he won’t thrive here doing that it’s not his game. He will thrive elsewhere as he’s a huge talent with massive quality, blessed with a lot of natural attributes. It was a good signing, but the club/managers let him down - our footballing philosphey hasn’t developed from the 90s with a big man up front and launch crosses in, getting them to mull defenders and a forward holding it up. He would thrive in the PL at a club who play differently.
It’s a massively poor sale mate. Its not about getting any money in, it’s about the context of the deal, what’s the point of us making an accounting profit of 15 mill, then having to shell out more on a replacement in a fee and take on a likely higher wage, Kean is one of our lowest earners. It’s not a good financially.
But he was signed under Silva who didn’t launch crosses into the box and he still didn’t do well?

I wouldn't say he's rubbish. But I had much higher hopes for our RB this year.
Pros: Strong, gets up and down, good control, good passer, good tackler.
Cons: Poor crosser, could do with being quicker, sometimes dodgy positionally, and tends to give away a lot of fouls in dangerous positions (which would frighten the life out of me if he played for us).
Probably better than what we have by some distance though.
Oh I agree. I'll admit, when we were first linked, I had my doubts though. I just didn't see how he'd fit because Everton don't do stuff like play three strikers. I remember chatting to a lad at work about it and just saying 'he'd just end up having to play on the wing' but my colleague had watched him a fair bit more than I had. But he's a City fan, and used to probably seeing talents nurtured and also getting to come in and play with world class players, not turbo dross.
I suppose I talked myself round to it and was dead excited when we signed him. And I agree about our tendency to throw the baby out with the bathwater (like I've said about James) and then wonder why we go nowhere. However in this case, I do have to say the player didn't really seem to fit in either and while that is on managers etc, ultimately he has to do it on the pitch as well. But again, it's half-and-half because we've never really played him to get the best out of him until, ironically, the first half the other night when I think he looked really good (admittedly against a poor side) in a front three, only for it to all go wrong for him in the second half.
It's the lesser of necessary evils this summer IMO though. The anger shouldn't be with this deal, moreso how we've got here.
We are that desperate for money and ultimately a deal like this could in theory be as good as a sale for us. It's crap but is what it is and, nobody, hand on heart, can say we'd miss what Kean brought to us while he goes. While I will defy anybody going we won't miss James, because we will, and that's why I've been so set in my view on that front even while I see the other side of the argument.
It all boils down to the absolute waste of the last few years under successive managers and DoFs.

I'd suspect clubs aren't desperate to tie themselves into a deal that would force them to work with Raiola for a player that isn't deemed world class.
I have absolutely no doubt though that there are several clubs in England who would have no difficulty at all in finding a permanent solution for Kean this window, and on their terms.
I give Brands some leniency for not being able to sell the Bernards and Gomes' of the world (largely due to the contracts that he gave them but that's another story), but Moise Kean? Nah, a competent DoF sells him no problem. Only positive is at least we'll get a transfer fee for him next year.
Surprised we haven't bid £20m already for him tbf. That's the first thing our scouts look for.

I don't think there is outside of teams where he wouldn't be a starter, tbh.
He's not proven anything in England. In fact, the only thing he's proven is he's probably not ready for PL football yet as he couldn't get into a pretty bog-standard Everton attack.
So I don't see any club outside of the top 5/6 being able to commit £30m to him. Not in this COVID-impacted market.
It's a weird case here that we could only sell upwards. Nobody in a similar position to us in England can afford to spend £30m on a striker who hasn't done well here.
And i say this as someone who is fairly critical of Brands' ability to shift players.

I wasn't suggesting a team in England would buy him off us, rather hypothetically that if Kean was already at one of those clubs they wouldn't have a problem selling him permanently in this window following his loan at PSG.
I certainly don't think he has a future in England.
