He was also his manager the season before when he got 8 goals. It's not good enough.
That represents progress, though, does it not? I mean, I don’t want to argue too vociferously for the guy - I think he’d do well but I’m not THAT wedded to the concept - but I honestly think if you were presented with the possibility of signing Sexio Namo from some faraway land, who posted the same numbers as Pérez, you’d be far more enthused at the prospect. Familiarity breeds contempt and all that.

We get nothing from our midfielders and attackers that aren’t DCL/Richy (and Richy’s returned have been diminishing) so I’d honestly be fine with an 8-12 goal forward. Obviously not if there was a realistic alternative that looked like he may bag more but as of yet I’ve not heard any such names bandied about.

How do you know anything about his decision to not join us? If of course it's even true. Maybe he likes Milan, maybe his family is there, maybe he wants to play for Milan, maybe he's holding out for another club he likes. There's potentially hundreds of reasons none of which I suspect you are privy to.
Went to school with him, mate.

Meh - Our interest may simply be a ruse to get Arsenal to stump up the cash. Can't see why we would be in for him unless one of our central defenders is off.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love him here and £50m is probably what his worth is. But we'd probably need to lose Mina or Keane to part finance it, and I'd rather not lose Mina if I'm honest. I'd be equally happy if we went with what we have in defence provided we brought in a decent right back.

I just don’t think he’s enough of an obvious upgrade on what we already have to justify putting him above our other very obviously urgent priorities.

Starting Monday, Benitez and the non international players due back.

I think we had transfer plan in place under Carlo and I still think we have key positions to find and fill such as Right Back and Right Winger plus I am sure we will be linked to other positions also.

Our problem will be our transition of management as Carlo will have different ideas to Benitez so this will slow plans down as well as current competitions in Euros and South America added to Covid.

Benitez will know our squad and if rumours are true, he impressed with his interview and knowledge of our squad.

I think we have to be realistic and understand that we can't just tear up contracts and sell on our lesser popular players but let's focus on our youthful assess and where these players fit in:
Simms
Small
Gordon
Branthwaite
Nkounkou

Isn’t that where the DoF model supposedly pays off, though? The transfer targets should be the same, obviously RB will want to cast his eyes over the list but you’d like to think there are sufficient options on there that we wouldn’t have to start the process again.

It’s definitely a nice idea that we could properly blood some youngsters. When was the last academy product to actually make a first team difference? Barkley? Sod’s law that two of our most promising players are LBs which is one of the few areas in which we’re sound.

It would be progress if he maintained it but he posted 8 goals then 3 goals in successive seasons after that in a much better Leicester side. Also I don't think it will be Perez plus DCL and Richarlison, he will be replacing one of them.

….I’m sure the club has a view on the worth of those players.
