I think unfortunately all managers we are likely to appoint will be a step down from Carlo in terms of their standing in the game. It will no doubt impact players wanting to move on and means we’re back to square one in terms of the so-called project.

Carlos standing in the game is certainly not what it was anymore.

The only positive for Ferguson is that you’d hope the club would have him doing the coaching / tactical stuff whilst leaving Brands to do recruitment. I am not sure any other manager would accept that

It’s a massive gamble though.

It’s unlikely Nuno or Rafael or Duncan is their no.1 choice, otherwise what’s stopping them? They’ll be sounding out candidates through agents until they know for certain they agree to everything before alerting anyone. Otherwise you look like a mug and get rejected or if they’re already employed you want everything in principle before making an approach and you want to know what exit clauses they might have.

No but I’d argue that we aren’t going to get anyone as high profile and certainly not with his cv. His star was definitely on the wane when he came here though I’ll give you that.

If NES was the man would they not have offered him the position already ? Maybe there waiting on someone else to come back to them , possible someone at a club already and EFC are waiting to see if whoever it was they’d be interested. Ferguson isn’t the man at this moment in time. We need to bring in stability, a manager who hopefully will be here for 3/4 seasons !!

Dunc will be chosen as caretaker manager to get us through till December. No signings this summer, as our permanent manager will want to have a look at the current options. We will start the rebuild in earnest begining of 2022 season.
