Best thing to happen to them was go down - the owners were chased out and they rebuilt.

Honestly think we should have gone down after the Walsh/Koeman debacle - chased Kenwright out in anger, got rid of all the big earners and came back up with the promotion money and started over with a new chairman and healthy balance sheet.

Honestly this did get us a bad owner and the playoff final loss to Fulham saw us implode to getting these amazing owners. Both 100% played a role in getting completely rebuilt.

its a very risky proposition to try and do that (achieving promotion back) but it forces clubs to get financially responsible — it’s why I’m a bit happy Newcastle didn’t go down because there likely would’ve been a takeover.
