probably a bit cheaper but question is really why would any team sign holgate or keane?
I think bottom half clubs might see Holgate as a decent utility player, most wont be watching him week in week out like us and magnifying his flaws. They will probably see him as young, decent pace, english and not a massive risk at £10-15m.

A compressed close season due to the Euros, then players having a much need break after their efforts of this compressed season (our players excepted of course) means another mad scramble for signatures. Am I being naive in thinking approaches have been made to players already. If so what do they think now seeing us fall away so dramatically?
I suspect its going to be the same old, same old again.

I think thats naive and would suggestion some coordination and the actions of a well run club

Agree and excuses for a poor next season already being laid by some. Everyone has the same market, let’s see how Brands does in this one and if we improve in any position
Yes, it's all down to the Dashing Dutchman. If ever there was a time for someone to earn his corn its him.
Let's see a couple of young hungry skilful players lighting up our season much the same way as other teams seem to with players nobody has heard of but explode onto the scene.
Thinking about it though I suppose we've tried it with a few young European players but failed miserably. Failed so bad I can only really recall Vlasic.

This argument falls down immediately as Keane is a much better player than Holgate and Keane had a much better season than Holgate.

Holgate was one of the biggest disappointments of the season. He made countless big errors and failed to find any kind of form.
Where did I say Keane didn't have a better season than Holgate?

Where did I say Keane isn't a better player than Holgate?

Your points are accurate. But they are also immediate, fleeting and short-term, which is why they don't defeat the original point being made: If you put Holgate and Keane up for sale, you'd get more bids for Holgate and he'd go for more than Keane.

In my opinion, if we have to sell one, then we should sell the lesser player.

I don't think it's realistic that Holgate would get more interest than Keane at all. I don't get the logic behind that.

We actually have to make a decision on Yerry Mina too. He has 2 years left so it's time to extend or sell. He's obviously good enough, but his injuries make it a trickier decision on whether he should get a new contract.

I am struggling to see how we are going to attract top talent. Besides CA and the prospect of playing in the premier league what can we offer an ambitious player that cares more about winning than money?

I think this is key to our recruitment.

We need to find hungry players, players who haven’t yet ‘made it’ but are hungry and determined for success... Ben Godfrey being a good example!

I’m sick and tired of signing established players who sign for big money then immediately take their foot of the gas!

Sign young players who simply want to play high level football and develop them. Sign players who haven't yet made the step all the way up even if it means in 3 years they want to move on.

We need signings to fit into some kind of plan.

Carlo’s 2 signings last year were very exciting but they were short term hits. We now have 2 injury prone players in their 30’s on big money, having achieved nothing with them this season. We’ve probably already seen the best of them.
