Everton Summer transfers 2021

Anyone talking up Loftus-Cheek must be getting a fee from Chelsea.

His one decent game was against us, surprise surprise, but he's been anonymous in that Fulham side. Lovely academy player, strong, shields the ball but doesn't do anything with it.

Anguissa plays deeper, breaks up play, can carry the ball or move it quickly forward. He also runs about a bit, which is nice, because it might mean he gets a couple of games before being slaughtered on here.

Anguissa is a decent player and adds exactly what we need to our midfield. Doucoure isn't the most technical player but he transform this team.

I think people need to be realistic with the level of player we can attract.
Good player he is. Has improved massively since they signed him them loaned him out. Would be happy to have a player like him and someone we could sign. I think he will have a few clubs looking at him in the summer.

Also, proper squad building isn’t based around throwing money at fashionable signings. It’s about strategic recruitment. Look at Leicester - no superstars but they’re on for top 4 and a cup final. They’ve built really well.

Clearly this would be a disastrous move. There's just no way you could build that name into a chant :-

One Andre-Frank Zambo Aguissa!
There's only one Andre-Frank Zambo Aguissa!
Etc, etc.

...... Shirley not.

Happy to be corrected by the more musically and poetically gifted, mind.
Na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na-na-na NA
ANDRE
ANDRE-FRANK
ANDRE-FRANK

With the slight change for emphasis, this is exactly the problem. Midfielders that can boss a midfield and provide attacking quality are scarce. There aren't enough to go around at the sides with a shot at lifting the European Cup, and if by some chance you develop one you'll lose him for a big fee, though likely not what he's worth, soon enough.

Knowing that, it's more sensible to build around the lack until you get into position to lift it with them, at which point you can attract them for less because they get a shot at the cup and the guaranteed minutes that the biggest fish can't offer them.

Anguissa is the only midfielder from any of the teams going down that I'd realistically want. Berge probably second choice.

I mean ideally I want us to shop elsewhere. If we want a sitter who can slot into defence, then Kamara from Marseile. Zakaria can play in a back three or midfield three. Albeit he was pretty crap v Bayern yesterday but that entire Gladbach team has just folded since Rose confirmed he was leaving (and tbf Rose himself seems to as well). There's other options out there - Soumare from Lille (albeit I'd want us to target Jonathan Ikone if any player from that Lille team) is another option.

Sounds good.....and don’t call me Shirley!

Did a quick search of Opta, and Anguissa stacks up well against all of our midfielders and Fulham's too. I remember him creating the most chances for them against Chelsea the other week, so thought it was worth a look.

Add into this that I'm almost certain his ball-carrying ability will be far better than any of our midfielders - I just can't get the stats to prove it.

But 26 chances created, and all of them being from open play (it doesn't show it on this list but I've just checked). Could do with adding a few goals to his game but look at the amount of passes he plays - second only to Reed and a really high efficiency.
