Champions League revamp

I know your a City fan so I was wondering what you feel should be the punishment for City and the other 5?
I think they should immediately be kicked out of the current CL competition. That would focus
the minds of the owners fairly sharpish as it has been the holy grail since the takeover.
The same for Chelsea and also for United in the Europa competition.
The threat about the players not representing their respective countries would be huge also.
As for the PL I'm not sure what you can do? I'd kick them out and bring in another 6 clubs
all the way up the pyramid to fill the void. The game will survive but maybe in a different or
better way. SKY would have to lower their prices to encourage more subscribers or they don't
have a business model. So maybe their coverage would be less biased and more inclusive.
The PL would more than survive. For me I'd just kick them out but I can't see that happening
unfortunately. Maybe thats an unrealistic answer, but what else can you do?

If they expel them, the gap will be even bigger because the TV money would go from The Premier League, to the Super League.

That's why the six won't be expelled, there's zero appetite for it from the 14 clubs.

So we end up with the scab 6 getting £350m on top of the current TV money, every year? The end result, (expel/not expel), is pretty much the same.

And then, for perpetuity, what they want, they will get.

Remember. They cannot be relegated from the circus. Even if we won the league 3 years on the bounce, we would need to be "invited" to join, (for one season), with the lions share of our £350m being shared by them.

Need shunting. "The Real PL" is my first back of the ciggie packet marketing idea.

In the short term.

In the long term, the English game would recover.

If they allowed it, the English game would be dead for every club outside those six.

I think this SL will go ahead no matter what.
it’s way down the path, I think UEFA/FIFA will chicken out of banning playing from euro and WC as they lose sponsors. That the only way to stop it
The PL will let them stay and give them no punishment as there scared of losing money

As always there is a 3rd way. Seems at the moment its a binary in out option. The disadvantage of kicking them out is losing money.
Why not keep them in but on the proviso they have no say in the running of the league. Essentially use them to get paid.

If the ESL goes ahead (I don't think it will btw), then they have to expel all 6 teams. Allowing ESL teams to stay in a devalued and largely meaningless PL is worse than taking the financial hit to put them out. The financial hit is enormous either way if this league starts so you have to keep your dignity and accept the hurt.

Until that point though, there will be posturing but not much in the way of punishments from the PL. It will be points deductions at worst, and expelling them is the very last resort way down the line.

Honestly I'm baffled who will actually watch this cartel 'super league' long term.
Obviously you'll get plenty at the start but they'll all get bored very quick.
Kick them out, they're massively over confident in what they think they have imo.

Why are you so against the SL? Out of interest

I don’t think they have the balls to do it in all honesty. I thought yesterday that they might, but I now see all of these responses are just empty threats. These six clubs have us all exactly where they want us. We missed the boat when the premier league formed, we are going to miss this boat too. I don’t want to be part of this though as I despise what football has become. I just wish all these young evertonians got to see the club they love lifting the league title like I did as a kid.

I think they do; they aren't going to be left with any option if the 6 don't fold themselves.

Remember what this has followed - years of appeasing them in negotiations, and then the Big Picture negotiations which can now be clearly seen as an attempt to pre-emptively remove the ability of the 14 clubs to stop the ESL. Every "benefit" of the Big Picture proposal would have further screwed the 14 as well, and not fallen anywhere near as hard on the 6.
