Champions League revamp

All these comments from Liverpool 'fans' you can honestly see who the actual fans are and the 'customers' who the owners and SL are targeting.

Its like a internal battle for the identity of these historic clubs.
As has been mentioned, and this will be a bitter pill for some of them to swallow but to get away from the corporate mess that they are in, and 'future fans' who have become a feature of these clubs they could do with a period to rebuild away from these hedge fund types.

Speaking specifically about Liverpool this might be their last chance to boot the likes of FSG out and get back to a situation in which they have a lot more than 6000 match going scousers. I am sure that there will be some who can justify going fully corporate and playing a part of the season abroad in the US and China or the like, which would be the next logical step, and to watch the traditions of the match-going locals in the city be cast aside. They really are in bed with the devil here and some can see it.

I am confident that if Liverpool did join some Super League that AFC Liverpool would happen within no time and they would be left with future fans only, the legacy going to AFC.

From both a comms strategy and common-sense perspective, it seems extraordinary that no one from the Super League or any of the clubs involved was able or willing to be interviewed, or could set out the case for support as part of their set-piece announcement. Of course, there is only so much comms can do when the substance is so poor—and the reception would still have been overwhelmingly negative. However, the absence of anyone prepared to argue the case for the Super League is still baffling. Perceptions form quickly and this will have contributed to a perception of arrogance and aloofness.

Does anyone else think there is more to all of this? I don’t believe these managers suddenly found out the last couple of days.

I might be cynical I just can’t feel help it’s all a bit of plan for something else and people are being kidded again.
Knowing some of these owners I could absolutely believe they didn't speak to the managers/players. They're egotistical maniacs who only care about their bottom line

Honestly, why would they have known?

Look at Mourinho. Sacked the day it happened pretty much.

Managers are employees. They don't run the club top to bottom. They have little to no impact on the business side of it. Why would they know?

some cheek from the scab 6

Good luck with that.

You can't compel an organisation of their own tournament to select players if they don't want to.

Playing international football isn't a human right.

Conversely, they'll be sued to oblivion in exchange when they leave for breach of commitment, particularly in relation to things like breaking Rule L9 - and rightly so.
