Champions League revamp

I don't think that there's a question that they have the power. What's not clear is whether or not they have the will. <cut to Verbal Kint opining on the nature of power>

They didn't want it to leak and they probably wanted to time it to coincide with UEFA's proposal, which they apparently found sufficiently unacceptable to undermine.

Petty and stupid, if you ask me, but what I'm taking away from this is that they collectively felt both massively disrespected and unheard by both UEFA and the Prem during previous negotiations.
Can't kick them out without standing accused of breaking current TV contract, points deductions is probably the most realistic domestically by the 14.

Their individual careers and futures ARE being threatened. Every none 6 footballer in the premier league is looking at a massive drop in pay come his next contract renewal.

It's already started.

But if needed, the place to apply pressure is through the players.

There is only so much the PL are going to say at this point. They will hold a meeting with the greedy 6 next and discuss it with them and that is when any juicy stuff will begin imo.

I expected a holding statement so not surprised. If they are considering the right sort of consequences then that's ok. There are an awful lot of legalities to get advice on and it's very important that they get their steps planned out in advance so that the clubs act as a collective 14 rather than on an individual basis.

What matters now is what happens next. You can only hold for so long and we need to hear more in the next couple of days.
I’ve learned a new phrase today of ‘holding statement’
If anyone can explain how long we have to wait for a proper statement, that would be sound.

Does anyone else think there is more to all of this? I don’t believe these managers suddenly found out the last couple of days.

I might be cynical I just can’t feel help it’s all a bit of plan for something else and people are being kidded again.

Nah, this is a lot more than posturing. It may well not go ahead, but I don't believe for a second that this was intended as a bargaining tool, they fully intended to do this.
Without Bayern and PSG? Not a super league. Why did those two stay with UEFA? To be the cuckoos in the nest. The plotters will get the maximum that is possible without collapsing the entire game. They would love to do that, but it is not a realistic proposition. Yet.

Leicester and West Ham in the race for the title now. I reckon that us and Leeds should make champions league but Villa and Wolves are lurking.

That's the reality of the situation now.
Sounds bizarre and farfetched, but you're right. Can't see how Uefa can give any of the 6 a place in next seasons competition when they've signed up for another one and more or less spat in the face of the tournament.

So yes, unimaginably we're in a position where we could be in the champions league.

They’ll back down and come crawling back and pretend it never happened and punishment will be minimal.
I’d like the 6 clubs to double down and put themselves in a position where they have to leave. Be great
True enough. Some of the brass neck on those teams is incredible. But if they keep getting away with it, why should they worry about it hey?

Bayern have sewn up UEFA and German teams are apparently clean as they rejected the ESL. But they didn't report it to UEFA or anyone did they? Same with PSG. I smell a large swindling scam artist of a negotiating rat right now. Kick them out. Scabs!
