Neil Foster was the latest player to leave the club and there was nothing Duncan Ferguson could do to keep him at the club. Ferguson has said the grass isn't always greener and Mick Wisdom is not getting his place in the Barnsley team. Jimmy Dube was set to make his debut, Steven Stockbridge filled in at left back whilst Sam Gibson played alongside Alan O'Neill in the absence of Morgan Feeney. Morton played the one-two with Bytheway but his cross was cleared, Josh Ferguson took the ball inside the box, looked for the shot but passed instead to McGavin who poked his shot into the bottom left corner wrong footing the keeper! Fylde with a good start! Dube was tested for the first time when Quinn was through on goal and Dube stood firm and kept it out, good stop. Mark Morton was caught napping on 55 minutes and Mitchell caught Gregory's ball sweetly and blasted past Dube to level. What a rocket into the top corner. Ten minutes later Bytheway fed the ball into the box for O'Neill who didn't disappoint putting it across the keeper into the bottom corner! Port Vale with the throw-in deep in the Fylde half, McGavin went to make the tackle but lunged two footed on Quinn, a horrific challenge, the referee had no choice but to show him the red card and Fylde were down to ten men. Fylde were doing their best to hold on in the final minutes of the game. Alan O'Neill was brilliant once again at the back. Fylde managed to hang on and recorded a victory to keep them in second place in the table.

DF: We've lost two big players in the January window and we have been tested with suspensions and injuries, we've managed to show we are up to the task and we should see players returning to training very soon to help us in the final third of this season.

A tough match for Fylde against 5th place Wimbledon. McGavin was serving a three match ban so Josh Ferguson came into central midfield and Declan Marshall played behind Tyrone O'Neill. Morgan Feeney was named amongst the substitutes. Wimbledon came close to maing it 1-0, they beat Dube but Okoroji was on the line to make two blocks. Well defended by Okoroji. The rain was relentless in South London and Dube pulled off a great save on 45 minutes when Towner drove the shot low towards the bottom corner. It got worse for Fylde and Josh Ferguson got two yellow cards in quick succession to reduce his side to ten men. The third game in a row Fylde have had a man sent off. Embid was also on a booking and needed to watch himself, he got the ball forward to O'Neill who made a run out wide, he tried the cross but it was deflected to Marshall, Marshall looked up and found O'Neill inside the box but his shot was palmed away by the keeper. Fylde will be glad to hang on to a point here. They looked solid defensively and Dube had a good game in goal. Oldham were held by Sunderland but Preston beat Bradford to go three points clear of Fylde.

DF: We need to watch our discipline, I like my players to get stuck in but not at the cosrt of us being at a disadvantage. With eleven players on the pitch I think we could have won that today.

=Oldham result.webp

What an encounter this could be. Second vs third and a win for Fylde could put them 8 points clear of Oldham. It is easier said than done and Oldham will put up a fight. Twent seconds in and Duncan Feguson was furious when Daniel Embid receieved a yellow card for a challenge on Gilbert. Ferguson seemed angry with the referee for the early booking. 26 minutes in and Henderson crossed for Tyrone O'Neill who was fouled before he could get the shot away and the referee gave the penalty! Euan Henderson stepped up assured and had his spot kick saved! The keeper kept it out. Fylde need to keep an eye on Cole Dasilva who is has the most assists in League One so far. Embid brought the ball out and played it wide to Bytheway, Bytheway came forward and tried to get it into feet for Tyrone O'Neill but he lost the ball and then won it back, he played it to Henderson who slotted from inside the box and made it 1-0! The game was end to end and there was more drama on 39 minutes when Alan O'Neill pulled down Gilbert in the box and conceded a penalty. Jenkins made no mistake and sent Dube the wrong way to make it 1-1. Vince Bytheway had to go off injured just before half-time with Victor Oto'o replacing him. Oldham tried to play it out from the back but Jordan Wilson closed down well and tried the shot from outside the box but it sailed wide of the mark. 92 minutes on the clock, Jackman brings the ball down from the keeper's kick with no challenge, gets it into the bx, Dube comes out and misses the ball and Jenkins scores the winner, 2-1 to Oldham! Dube was in no mans land. It's all over at Mill Farm and Oldham are victorious closing the gap on Fylde to two points.

DF: A terrible way to end the match, nobody closed down Jackman, he was in acres of space and Dube tried to come for the ball and got it completely wrong. Bytheway has twisted his ankle and is going to miss a month or so of football.
