ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

We might laugh, but Henderson is a big miss for this lot. He seems to pump up players around him and he puts in a decent shift.

This Liverpool team cant get near the heights of that night 2 years ago.

Let’s hope so. I can see Klopp throwing the Villa game. He’ll indulge his ego to try and win the second leg. Zidane won’t have the same luxury.

That's a factor. However, the other way to look at it is that Chelsea slipping up last week allowed Liverpool now their most realistic route to CL football this season and they'll play their best team to stary and hope they can sub off key players.

The key difference is, Real Madrid think like a big club, Liverpool dont. And yes, I can see them dropping points against a poor Villa side minus Grealish.

Theres a template to playing them. When sides are too arrogant not to follow it (see Arsenal, Spurs) it comes unstuck. But follow a game plan, and they are flummoxed.

Sit deep, let Alexander-Pele give the ball away and then whack long balls over their slow and useless defence that their lazy and one paced midfield cant track back to help with. As an added bonus just kick it in the direction of Lionel Arnold and watch him [Poor language removed] it up somehow. A diving header a assist. A positional error. A bottling out of a simple header or tackle. A reckless foul for a penalty. He will do something kamikaze. Just whack it at him and let him do the rest. Hes world class at making chances for the opponents, nobody is even close to him at that.

Do you know what would be most Moyes. If David Moyes ended up costing them champions league football. Klopps been bested by him this season.

Honestly mate, even a make shift Real Madrid are miles too good for this Liverpool team. Have they even got a goal in open play at home this year?

That Barca result was a freak, from a side that has made a habit of collapsing. They have that same 1 in a million chance again.
Barca result was not a freak...but that was then. They are ordinary now, everyone except City are ordinary this season. RS will not accept it though and blame Pickford for their thin squad.

It was a bit of a freak. They played a mentally frazzled Barca team who were making a habit of throwing away big leads and about to go into full self destruct.

It pains me to say it, but outside of Messi that Liverpool team was much better than the Barcelona side that rocked up. 3-0 flattered Barca in the camp nou.

3-1 did not flatter Real Madrids reserves tonight. They are just miles better than Liverpools greatest ever team. But then so sas our reserve team, Brighton, Fulham, Southampton etc etc etc. No real surprises at all.

As long as there's no exact repetition of season 2004/05!!

That's done.

Say what you want about Benitez, but he was calm under pressure and knew how to win big games. Benitez would have got a result tonight, a 1-1 and would have recognised they have avoided all the top teams and got them to the final.

Klopp hasnt got that skill. He still bottles big games, his record in finals remains atrocious and in cup comps more generally is awful.

If you look at the 2 trophies he won, 1 was a freak season where their fans weren't allowed in to jeopardise it like they usually would (and have previously) with their unique brand of knobheadery. It was a freak season where City took a year off for transition, having had an injury crisis far worse than the one they keep whining about.

The other was when they played the arch bottlers Spurs, and managed to avoid Juventus, Ajax, Madrid x 2, Bayern & PSG on their route to the final who all knock them out with ease. A jammy run and then playing the only team in English football who are even bigger bottlers than Klopp (and us to be fair)- Spurs.

He basically has to get so far ahead to win something its unreal. He has no idea how to win ugly, and he cuts a manic figure.

Houllier and Benitez would have got them to the final.

What a difference a day maaakes
Twenty four little hours...

The idea Gary Neville, with what his 10 league title wins.or whatever it is, looks at Arnold with any jealousy is laughable. I really dont think hes in the least bit bothered to honestly let someone like Arnold even get into his mindset.

There will never even be a competition as to which one will be remembered as the better right back. Arnold's barely in the top English right backs of his time. Neville was Englands best for about 10 years, and nobody was even close.

It's not even a dig at Arnold. Trippier, Walker, James, Lamptey, Wan Bissaka, Aaron's (coming through) are all good players, but a mile off being the best right back for a decade by some distance as Neville was.

I can only assume some people just didnt watch football more than 10 years ago.

Laugh all we want at them lot over the park, and I do, but they are mixing it with the finest in Europe and knee deep into the Champs league.

Meanwhile, our season is over in March/April, and we are an utterly shambolic embarrassment most weekends.

Seeing them get beat doesn't even give joy anymore, as I know a text will come through from RS mates when we next slip up at home to relegation material.

Incoming "famous anfield" assualt/criminal damage/welcome from the loyal pier head terrorists on the Real team bus, just to show the werld that this means more.

In relation to the match, never rule these Spawny Satan sucking swines out of any cl game.

Hala Madrid!

The only I joy I get out of football these days is how bad the Kopites are.

we’ve been irrelevant for as long as I can remember. I love Everton but I don’t like us. We have something wrong in the DNA, a loser’s mentality is deeply entrenched in the club.

so thank you for nights like tonight Liverpool you’re not much better than us.
